We have had a mixed experience in the year of membership for my partner and I. Just renewed for a year bc it is the better value compared to monthly or quarterly, and they do payment plans, which is helpful. Most of the staff is friendly. One lady in particular, who I see at the desk most evenings, is ALWAYS so helpful, welcoming, and a pleasure to talk to. However, the older lady who works Sunday afternoons at the desk needs a talking to by management. Every single week she starts asking if I'm done using the locker room/ shower around 4:30, trying to rush me, even though the hours are til 5pm. And EVERY week I remind her that I know what time they close and will be done before then. Last week she walked up behind me as I was toweling off outside the shower stall, (so I was nude of course) and she began questioning me as to how much longer I'd be, while I was bent over drying my hair- and the time was 4:35! EXTREMELY INAPPROPRIATE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. You dont invade a guest's personal space to harass them needlessly while they are NAKED. Other than dealing with this woman our experience there has usually been mostly positive. The exercise room has a pretty view in the morning and is never too crowded, so it's a nice place to start your day. However the showers have no temperature control, so unless many other ppl are showering at the same time, the water is often way too hot. The locker room should also be kept cooler/ more ventilated so you aren't sweating 10 minutes after you get out of the shower! It would also be great if they had some trained staff available to let members to use the rock climbing wall, bc we have waited months for that to be the case. The pool, hottub and...
Read moreHusband and I initially really loved coming here, but the state is shoving masks again, and for some reason they have no ADA exemptions regarding this and were unwilling to accommodate us. We both have documented proof. I tried to be polite, understanding, and sympathetic since it's the state's fault for pushing this nonsense, but the staff member we talked to was so rude to us about being unable to comply due to disability, we unfortunately have decided not to come back. Whoever talked to us really didnt need to get that angry and tell us to get out of town after explaining our need for a mask exemption. i was polite 100% of the time and found the need to be that disrespectful towards us rather unnecessary. We would have absolutely loved to stay, but my initial impression of the staff being extremely nice was wrong and there isn't really anything we can do about it for now. We simply dont want to pay $120/month to not be treated with compassion and kindness by staff. We'll simply ask for a refund and will just go somewhere else instead. A...

I called the Lincoln City Rec Center today to ask if they had open swim available, and the lady on the phone assured me that they did and that the center would be open until 7 PM. She also mentioned that they would have to have an Adult swim which was no problem. Based on this information, I drove all the way from Newport to Lincoln City, expecting to enjoy a swim with my kids. However, when we arrived, we were informed that two swim lesson classes were taking place until 6:30, and my kids wouldn’t be able to swim as expected.
This was incredibly frustrating and disappointing, as I had been given completely inaccurate information over the phone. If I had known that the pool wasn’t available for open swim during that time, I wouldn’t have made the trip. The miscommunication led to a wasted drive, gas and very disappointed kids, and a negative experience overall.
I hope the rec center improves their communication with customers to avoid inconveniencing others...
