I wanted to have my wife's clarinet refurbished for her birthday. The band students at the school I teach at recommended Music & Arts. A few weeks after school got out for the summer, I took my wife's clarinet to them on June 13th hoping it would be ready for my wife's birthday on the 19th. Unfortunately, they do not do the repairs at the location and have to send out instruments for refurbishing. They said it would take three to four weeks for it to be completed and returned. I should've looked around at other places, but my students strongly recommended this place and my wife is old enough to understand that my thinking of refurbishing something from her high school days would be touching even if it did arrive after her birthday. Four weeks went by and I had not heard anything from Music & Arts. No one called to update me on the status of her clarinet. I did not receive an email or standard mail notification of its status. I was simply in the dark. about the whole thing. So on July 11th, I stopped by the shop while running errands to find out what the status was. They checked their system and told me that all it said was, "in progress" and that the technician was unavailable to be reached in order for them to clarify what that meant. I was told by the employee that they would find out and get back with me. They verified my mobile number and I made sure their phone number was in my contact list so that I would know it was them when they called. No call ever came. Two weeks later (now six weeks after dropping off the clarinet) I called Music & Arts to ask what the status was of my wife's clarinet. Since I had not heard from them, I was simply going to ask for it back and find someone else to refurbish the clarinet. This time, I got a hold of Vincent. Vincent is the only reason why I am giving a 2-star rating for this place instead of a 1-star. Vincent took ownership of the situation and apologized for it being gone so long. He asked by when I needed it by and I told him, "four weeks ago would've been nice." He said the status still said, "in progress," and that he would contact their repair center to see what the hold up was. I wasn't holding my breath but I was pleasantly surprised when Vincent called me back the next day to let me know that the clarinet refurbishment should be done by next week. I didn't hear anything on Monday but Tuesday, Vincent called to let me know that the work was completed and that it would be able to be picked up on Thursday August 1st. Vincent called Thursday morning and told me I can pick it up and even told me what time they closed. I picked it up that afternoon and expressed my dissatisfaction with how long it took to get the refurbished instrument back. The clerk, (not Vincent), simply said, :sorry about that," and told me the $482.79 total I owed for the refurbishment. I asked about my military discount since I am a disabled veteran and he said that military discounts do not apply to work orders for repairs. Rather than make a scene, I simply stood stoically and paid the full amount in silence. Sensing my tension, as I start walking out the door, the employee simply said, "have a nice day." He may have meant it but his tone seemed more sarcastic than genuine. I simply said, "Yeah, whatever," and walked out the door. I will NEVER give them my business ever again and I will make sure the students at the school I teach at follow my lead. UPDATE: I forgot to mention that when we got the clarinet home, my wife noticed that the case had scratches, dings, and other marks on it that it did not have when...
Read moreDon't take any saxophone classes there, as that instructor cancels his classes frequently, and promises double the time on the next class, but kicks you out at the regular time stating that he can only give the regular time. Additionally, he had a difficult time scheduling a class time that was convenient for us both. As an adult, I couldn't come in at amytime, as I work. For example if I told him I'm free on Fridays, he would ask me if I could come in on a work day, during my sleep time (nightshift worker), or during the same time I was taking another class. None of the times I got were convenient, and on a few occasions he got angry making statements like, "that's what I have, you either take it or leave it." Whenever I would begin considering going elsewhere, his attitude briefly improved. I grew tired of going back and forth with him, as I felt, if you don't have a time slot that works for both of us, TELL ME and I'll go elsewhwere. This is not what he did, so I quit his classes. I'm taking music classes elsewhere, and I'm very happy with my instructors, tuition, class schedule, etc. Unfortunately, they are not sax classes, but bass and drums. When I have mastered The basics of those, I'll seek out a sax instructor SOMEWHERE ELSE. As far as the store staff is concerned, the management is good with scheduling, helping you to pick out, repair, or purhase an instrument, but their student contracts are horrible, as they are devised to protect the instructors, NOT the students. Vince, Roger, and Justin are the best of the staff members who work there. All other classes are safe to take with their present staff, but if you're looking for sax lessons, I suggest looking elsewhere. When I quit my sax classes, I lost half of my money, and the sax instructor still got to...
Read moreProceed with caution when ordering anything from this company. I ordered supplies for my daughter based on the prefabricated list compiled by her school. The supplies was ordered 3 months in advance as recommended to avoid trying to purchase the items when they out of stock at the beginning of the school year. I later learned that the warehouse sent me the wrong item. I went to this location to explain what happened. They proceeded to tell me that the item is now out of stock and that I will have to order a new item from the warehouse without promise that I will receive the correct item the second time. To add insult to injury, they stated I would have to pay for shipping again to have it sent to my house. Even though I paid for shipping the first time and they sent me the wrong item. I proceeded to call the customer service number for further assistance. Unfortunately, that was worse than going to the location. I wish I did not have to do business with these. Poor customer service and it is...
