Loved the architecture, the decoration of the caterer, loved both musical performances - adorable Low Leaf and wispy vōx at the Passages event organized by HomeLA.
The house itself is truly a sight to see. The current owners are very generous to share it with guests of various cultural events or with nonprofits like Kindred Spirits Care Farm, which works with troubled youth to rescue animals and promote sustainable farming. But then again what would you do with a house like this other than entertain? It's built to dive into the entrails of life, of togetherness, of imagination. In all it's beauty and emotional power. Seeing it so often makes me take for granted the fact that this house is an architectural and historic landmark of Los Angeles. John Sowden employed Lloyd Wright (Frank Lloyd Wright’s nephew) to design the house, making it iconic in its own right. Adding to the intrigue, Sowden is also believed to have been a serial killer - creepy, but it doesn’t even stop there. Read moreThis house is a Lloyd Wright gem. It's modern and contemporary and yet at the same time it's Mayan Revival meets Arts & Crafts; with a lot of bronze and Earth Tones. Place is utterly gorgeous.
It has a checkered past supposedly connected with the black Dahlia murder of the 1940s. So this adds an element of intrigue. Parking is Street, which can be a challenge.
