Unlike some of you gratuitous googlers I don't throw five star reviews around like ticker tape at another Yankee's parade... When Christopher DeLoach leaves five stars it means something. Like a spaghetti western soundtrack, you can count on DeLoach to deliver the goods. It's in keeping with this spirit that I present my five star review of Tabula Rasa Natural Wine Bar. To get five stars from DeLoach a business must satisfy the Five A's of Hospitality and Excellence. They are as follows. Acumen Activation Authenticity Amazing And Artistry. Tabula Rasa has got it all baby. First is acumen. From the first time through the last time I patronized this fine natural wine bar (roughly eighty times now) the staff, especially the tall slender fellow with the sun stroked straw hair, have treated me and my accompaniment with acumen. Bingo. Activation... Alot of people who go out for natural wine don't know about activation. Let me tell you sister. Activation is that tingling sensation one gets when the native yeast sauce hit's their tongue. It's the five or six ounces of fire that swim in primitive inebriating bliss in fine crystal. It's the french expression slipping my memory at this precise moment. The one they reference and employ in the film Miller's Crossing in that intro scene. Tabula has activation. It activates you. Authenticity. They've got that too. Listen I can't fully get into this here right now because I'm at work but trust me. Amazing and artistry are omnipresent once you walk in that joint. In the words of Francis Albert. It's witch...
Read moreAwesome neighborhood wino bar with beer selection on our block!! They also have snacks/food. Its been getting busier and catching on. Came on Saturday night maybe around 10pm and all the seats were taken. But folks come and go at different times, so you'll possibly find a seat.
Small outdoor smoking area. Service: Very friendly. Local watering hole. Not pretentious. Chill atmosphere. Your bartenders are dressed causal. Crowd may range from late 20s - early 40s? Still a hip place with the music and atmosphere.
Been waiting for this place to open and watching it develop since the first Los Feliz neighborhood council meeting notification a year ago about it's planning, zoning and historic preservation committee for stakeholders living close by. Will there be a live band at some point?? Notification stated possibly bands playing here?
Located in Los Feliz, borderline east hollywood with Thai Town with great drunk food across the street. So it's a fun stroll around before or after. Block away from other popular bars like Jumbo Clown room and Harvad & Stone...
Read moreThis place is great, and if I knew anything about wine besides how to gobble it down, I would probably be even more stoked on it because they are clearly obsessed with wine. I kinda feel like I have “quantum leap” with my wallet here though: I remember walking in...sitting on a surprisingly comfortable stool...blinking...then being handed a $90 bill. Probably the fastest way to get rid of money for a good ten block radius —but having said that, if you have taste AND money you will be pumped on this beyond your wildest foodie dreams. My only complaint is that I wish they could bring back those insanely good burgers they used to make on the little dorm-room grill. I wish I could find the little narc that ratted that situation out to the Fire Dept or whatever and give them a wedgie. I would risk the entire neighborhood going up for just one of those burgers. They...
