I have to say what a sorry disappointment UCLA Neurology was trying to get an appointment. We live out of state and had been referred by our neurologist to go to UCLA for specialized treatment that was not offered were we live. The Dr's office sent the referral as well as all the chart records. We contacted UCLA Neurology to make the appointment and after long hold times or phone calls being answered by the answering service and promising to have them call back UCLA said they did not receive the fax and would not book the appointment.
Back to the Dr's office to request that it be faxed over again- Same thing, advising they never received the fax. This happened 6 times and records were faxed 6 times, one of those being myself personally, and all faxes had confirmations that they went. One of the phone conversations I even had with UCLA was requesting that the Dr. call and book the appointment but was told no they would not because records had not been received. UGH!!!!
When you desperately are trying to get the specialized help you need for your child and you end up spending hours on the phone on hold and numerous hours getting records sent you pretty much just want to cry.
No one should have to but up with this type of treatment, especially when you've done everything humanly possible. I hope that others have better luck- I finally gave up, called the neurology specialist at USC and got through on the first call, talked to friendly people and had an appointment made. Thank You USC, no this Mom can breath a little easier knowing that caring and helpful people will...
Read moreThis place saved my life! One night I got a bad headache; worse one ever... It felt like my head was about to explode! They rushed me to the ER in Antelope Valley. After a CT scan they realized I had a ruptured anuersm. They then rushed me to Los Angeles to UCLA... I really don't remember much due to the medication they gave me... All I know is I woke up maybe 3 or 4 days after the surgery. If it wasn't for my head being shaved in the front and the staples that were in my head, I wouldn't never even known I had brain surgery. I was trying to do everything by myself, which frustrated the staff. But I swear I felt regular. When the doctor came in a week later and removed the staples and drainage tube that was in my head it hit me... I started crying and thanking them for saving my life... I also apologized for being a handful. That assured me that they understood and I got released a day or to later... They wanted to keep me a couple of more weeks, but since I didn't have a stroke and was fully aware of everything that was going on they released me two weeks early. I thank ALL the Doctors, the nurses, the CPs and the whole staff for saving my life! And by the way... The facility is very clean and the...
Read moreDr. Perry Sheih and his students ruined my life. I was admitted to UCLA with a painful nerve condition w/paralysis. They did three brain surgeries in five days. On the fifth day they sent me home. No physical therapy, no occupational therapy, no home health, no follow up prescriptions, no rehab. That was in February. I’m still working with my PCP to get the follow up care I could have used so that my nerve damage isn’t permanent. Writing a referral for rehab wouldn’t have hurt, or a prescription for the medication I need would have been standard. Sending me home so soon, with no follow up care was irresponsible, debilitating and just unprofessional. If I had this to do over again, I’d go to Cedars… I love the other departments at UCLA but neurology makes me rethink my entire care...
