With an average of 10 million visitors per year from all over the world, Venice Beach California is a unique place. There, one can find individuals and groups playing oldies and contemporary music, street vendors with personal crafts as well as legal pot stores.
I ride my bike through here frequently. Today, the outdoor roller skating rink caught my attention. Someone or a group of people bring music and the party is on! One can enjoy seeing from beginners to highly skilled participants. Whether it's the first time that someone is trying their roller skates or has been doing it for some time, they immediately become part of the party. There is an aura of sharing and friendship, of cooperation, and enthusiastic support. But, the individual artistic expression of each of the participants is personal pushing their skills in a mood of freedom. Today, I decided to stop by the rink. After i parked my bike on the sidewalk, soon, I found a spot among those seating on the sandy grass... I was absorbed in the music and the siluets rhythmically moving on the pavement overlapping each other.
I gradually could see that the group of skaters expanded from 15 to 20 or more dancers at one time. They were going in-and-out rhythmically to the bit of diferentes songs with the rest of the groups sharing their spontaneity, joy, and cooperation among each other. And that's what was catching the attention of anyone going by, this fluid emotions on wheels.
The rink was surrounded by locals and foreign bystanders of all ages who were admiring this "show" of pure joy.
It is open to the public, and it is FREE!!!
I couldn't help myself, as I looked around seeing children's wide opened eyes and adults faces wondering, if it's a natural inborn feeling in us: to express ourselves in freedom, in joy, and in mutual respect... allowing us to connect with each other once we let our goodness react before us...
I couldn't help either having the feeling and the desire to have such a skill. I've never tried to roll skate... nor I think I'll ever will... the closest I'll get to roll skates is taking their pictures and sharing them with you... I almost forgot it, but here I'm sharing them with...
