Ceviche de Tres Ajis $13.25 - Similar to the Ceviche Mixto, but the difference is self-explanatory. Instead of just having the Aji Amarillo in the marinade, it also has the Rocoto, and Limo ajis along with oysters added into the fusion of explosive flavors. Although it was slightly over salted, it was my favorite of the two ceviches I tried here. Great combination of spice and sweetness from the peppers and spices along with the water-the-sides-of-your-mouth tartness from the lime juice and the salsa criolla. Will order nothing less than the Tres Ajis from now on…
Arroz Con Mariscos $15.99 – This is essentially a Peruvian style paella with black tiger shrimp, scallops, squid, clams, mussels, red bell pepper, and scallions. The rice was rich, buttery, and impeccably seasoned. I’m happy that nothing was overcooked, and all was seasoned to perfection. There’s not much to say, but I must emphasize that it is well worth trying and devouring because of how good it is…
Jalea Mixta $13.99 – A fried seafood platter consisting of green lipped mussels, clams, basa, calamari, octopus, and shrimp. All seasoned perfectly and garnished with fried yucca (cassava root), cancha, and house made tartar sauce, and salsa criolla (red onions pickled in lime juice, red wine vinegar, and salt). Cooked perfectly tender, and balanced with the acidity from the salsa criolla along with the richness and creaminess from the tartar sauce. It’s even better when you add the spicy green Aji (Peruvian chili pepper) sauce to the mixture! I’ve never wanted to lick my fingers clean this bad as I did while...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I ended up here a few hours after our plane landed from Houston. I eat delicious South and Central America food and seafood all the time at home, but when I tell you this place is truly special, I mean it. We ordered the beef empanadas, spicy fish ceviche, fish tacos, and side of plantains. The spicy ceviche is the best I've ever tried, the bowl came with huge pieces of white fish, roasted corn, another type of corn(or maybe hominy?), red onions, and sweet potato. The dish was incredibly unique and complex, I've never had anything like it before. We ended up using the ceviche sauce to top our fish tacos and it was unbelievable. You can tell the beef empanadas had a delicious sofrito base because the beef flavor was infused with the taste of caramelized onions and tomatoes. Of course, the plantains were amazing and had a beautiful caramelized look and taste. They serve everything with a fresh homemade green salsa(not spicy at all) that paired perfecyly with every dish. Don't let my subpar pictures fool you, this place is truly something special and very worth the visit. I'll certainly be back here a few hours after the next time...
Read moreThe best Peruvian restaurant I’ve ever been to. My family is Peruvian and I’ve spent years of my life there. Just writing this review, my mouth is watering thinking of the delicious lomo saltado and yucca fries that I had. This place is simple with no indoor seating, right next to the beach and my family visited on vacation. Compared to our local restaurants in a small city, prices were unexpectedly high, but for LA and this location, they were very reasonable - over $100 for lunch for five. However, the food was worth at least double that! It was outstanding. And the man cooking was as nice and friendly as can be. The only drawback was the wind from the beach blowing our napkins and utensils around. Well, also, the menu isn’t quite as large as could be and they don’t have some standard dishes, like aji de gallina or tacu tacu, but they have a large selection for a small place. 100% percent...
