I have never left a review before, but I just want to warn others about this urgent care. I could have potentially endangered my health in a serious way if I had listened to the advice of the nurse practitioner at this urgent care. I woke up one morning with a large amount of blood in my stool (not to be too graphic), but I bled a lot in a short amount of time. My father is an anesthesiologist so I asked him what to do, he said to go to the nearest urgent care because they would be able to see me faster than an ER would, my parents also live out of state and I am a college student, which I made the care providers aware of. I did not feel awful and was able to drive myself, so on the way I called and explained what was happening and asked if they would be able to treat me or if I should just go to the ER. They said to come in. I showed up, waited about 40 minutes (even after explaining that I was losing blood), and the lady at the front desk also read my social security number out loud in a room full of people. When I finally got to see a nurse, she did literally no tests, checked nothing at all, and told me she wasn’t worried about the bleeding. I asked to see a doctor anyway, because I was worried and my dad was as well. They did not send in a doctor, they sent in a nurse practitioner, which is fine, except she also did not do any physical exams or tests and told me it was fine. She asked me if I’d had hard stools, and I said no. She told me to take stool softeners and the bleeding would go away. I had just told her that hard stools were not the problem, so that made no sense. I left and immediately went to the ER. My dad, who’s an anesthesiologist, said what they did was completely unsafe and unprofessional. After arriving at the ER, I was treated immediately. They did several tests and they found that something was definitely wrong, and said I would definitely need an upper and lower scope to find out what the problem was. Initially they said it looked like a gastrointestinal tear. I had the surgery done and was diagnosed with an H. Pylori infection that was causing bleeding. H. Pylori can cause a number of stomach problems including cancer and ulcers. I had also made the urgent care nurses aware that I am anemic and needed the bleeding to stop ASAP. They didn’t seem to care, and didn’t even test my iron levels. I did fill a review form after my visit including all of this information and the names of the people who saw me. They never got back to me about any of it. I also asked the ER doctor if any of this was normal procedure, he was very surprised about how they had brushed off my issue and acted like it wasn’t a problem, and also how they made no effort to see if there was a problem. Also, this was back in October and I was 19 at the time. If I had to guess, I received the awful care that I did because I’m a young, female patient who was there alone. I was spoken down to, they downplayed the problem that I was having, and as a result misdiagnosed me. This infection that I had would have worsened and likely caused other serious health issues over time if I had listened to them. I’d certainly appreciate a response since they didn’t respond to the survey I filled out. The nurse practitioner’s name was...
Read moreEveryone at the office was so friendly, pleasant, and welcoming! I had a great experience at the office, however my experience afterwords has been extremely frustrating. I was told by the doctor I would have my COVID lab results within 48 hours and it took 5 days. I had to call up each day, until finally the 5th day whoever answered the phone heard what I had to say and did something about it. She personally called the lab to get my results and called me back within 30 minutes. I was told my online chart was being updated as we were speaking so I could print off a copy for myself and my boyfriend to return to work. It was not, and I have called each day about it and still 3 days later it is still not updated. I called again today and she said the only option would be for me to return to the office and pick up a printed copy there. Unfortunately this whole process has been extremely frustrating and has caused a whole weeks delay in myself and my boyfriend being able to return to work because of miscommunication at this office. I wish the level communication and organization at this office could match the level of friendliness...
Read moreThought I'd update since they replied:
First they wouldn't answer the phone, so I went there directly for help. I was told the wait would be 1 hour; it was 4. Told test results would arrive on Tuesday, they didn't. Asked for a new doctors note because they only gave me one until Tuesday, and they had me wait an hour for a new doctors note.
I called the customer experience line like the reply said, and got a voicemail. If you don't have COVID, you don't matter, it seems. Meanwhile, I actually had something that can turn life threatening in a short time if left untreated, but they were too busy testing me for COVID over and over (even though the symptoms didn't match COVID) to even consider another diagnosis. I went to UofL for school so I was honestly excited to get medical care from UofL, but I will not be using this location or any of the others ever again. This was a debacle, and the standard of care was...
