This place is ridiculous. In any big city in the USA, you can get a kabob, rice, and side salad w/ a piece of bread for about $7. Here it's about $14. So bring your wallet if you want to eat here. When you walk inside there are about 10 different menus, they even have a menu for "sauces", so if you want a side of sauce, that's extra, and in the combo meals, you have to pay extra for your sides. I've never been to a restaurant that says "Combo Meal including two sides", but when you choose the sides, you have to pay extra for each side. The chicken tastes good if you want to pay $14. The prices are out of control, it's one of those places where you are basically paying for their rent and not getting any food in return. Plus they don't give you a receipt with the prices of the items you ordered. So if it says $8.93 on the menu, and you get the receipt for $14, you will have no idea how $5 extra dollars were tacked on. I asked them, they said "Oh well chipotle sauce is this much, this is this much, and this is this much, then I was like "Why would you put $8.93?" This place is a scam. Don't order the kids meal either. For $5, they will give you a small side cup, and the whole kids meal fits inside, go order one and see for yourself? I've lived in other cities and real Persian food is not this expensive for little in return, but then again most of this isn't real Persian food, just a small franchise that is basically giving you nothing for something. This is a small cafe type place where you take your food to go or eat a lunch, but it's more expensive than a nice sit down restaurant. Would not return, lower your prices or give more value for...
Read moreMy husband and I ordered kabobs, mine a lamb chop and his steak. It wasn’t kabobs just two pieces of meat with one sliced grilled tomato next to it. These meals did not fit the picture on the website. I guess if we wanted other vegetables to go with the kabobs then we had to order them separately. My husband did inquire about veggies and the lady at the counter brought him a small cup with sliced red onions and another with bananas peppers. We were expecting kabobs to include something like mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, etc especially for a $9-21 dollar meal, then having to add am additional $8 for rice with his meat and sweet potatoes with mine was just ridiculous.
We spent over $60 for this meal. When I asked the girl at the counter to sample a baklava she said that I would have to pay for it. Ridiculous! This was our first time experiencing Mediterranean food and it was not a good experience.
The restaurant closes at 8 pm. 6 new customers came in to dine in at 7:40 but were turned away. Very poor decision.
The overall atmosphere was lovely especially with the Jazz music and the constant commercial advertising the restaurants delicious looking cuisine, but the customer service and food we received just...
Read moreEdit: if you order online make sure the site is secure. I have tried on both iphone and android and both scream unsafe and not secure. I brought this to the attention of a staff member and she photographed what my phone said. That was several months ago and site is still not secured. Just be aware. Otherwise, the food here is amazing. My current favorite is the eggplant dish. My son loves the chicken kabob. I am a vegetarian but there have been brief moments in time where I have eaten chicken and fish. Both are cooked to perfection at Shiraz. They prove in their food when they cook it I believe... the food is also reputable sourced and the chicken is not pumped full of hormones and antibiotics which meat eaters ingest and take into their systems. The decor at the restaurant on Bardstown road also is colorful, tasteful and very well done. My critic is that they need to DITCH the styrofoam and use of plastic straws. I'm actually rather shocked they use them at all in this day and age. They are like many resteraunts in Louisville i guess. Great food but not quite with...
