PICK UP YOUR PHONE!!!!! I have never left a Google review, but I guess now is the time. I wish I could give you zero stars. I came to Mackinaw on a vacation and purchased a sweatshirt from them. I was camping and did not want to risk ruining a new shirt, so I immediately put it in my car in the bag. I did not wear it. I have worked in retail for 4 years, so I always check my clothing purchases for defects before I buy them. There were no flaws, or even a loose string. It looked to be in great condition, and of good quality as far as touristy shirts go. I got it home and washed it, and was shocked when I took it out of the dryer. It was completely ripped and torn, to the point where it is unwearable. The screenprinted design is still on, but the fabric itself is so ripped it looks like a pair of distressed jeans. I tried calling 5 times, and it just kept ringing. As a small business, especially one that is based in a town as popular as Mackinaw, you are wildly unprofessional to not even pick up your phone. I was fully willing to ship the defective shirt back and pay for shipping and cost of a new one. I go in this store every summer when I come up, but never again. I will give my business to Harbor Wear (one of the only stores that isn't affiliated with them) next time I go up. It is a little more expensive, but at least they picked up their phone. If you are not going to pick up your phone and hide from complaints, you might as well get rid of the...
Read moreFriend was falsey accused of STEALING. Was HARASSED throughout the store. If you do not want to be wrongly labled a THIEF do NOT come to this sorry excuse for an establishment.
My friend and I are in disbelief. We went into this store to browse the sales and my friend found a dress that she wanted to try on. There was a dressing room that was open and so my friend ran into it to put on the dress.
After coming out of the dressing room, there was an employee (tall, dark hair, fair skin, a thick accent that may have been Swedish) who was cornering my friend. She asked my friend who opened the dressing room door for her, to which my friend explained that the room was simply left open. This employee did not believe my friend, and instead of leaving her alone, went to converse with the manager. My friend then went upstairs to browse through more items, and was actually FOLLOWED by the employee, who insisted that she come talk to the manager. She threatened my friend with security tapes, meanwhile my friend did nothing. The manager actually had MULTIPLE SECURITY GUARDS waiting to detain my friend.
Luckily, the employee went back to go “clear things up with the manager” and nothing more came of it, but I’m still in shock. All my friend did was try on a dress. Utterly ridiculous....
Read moreShopping here feels like a fever dream. There is so much going on between the amount of things they have and the staff present (as in, impossible to tell who is staff and who is a customer). I enjoyed how many options they had for souvenirs, but there were also a bunch of random things that didn’t make sense to have there. I also caught multiple whiffs of random (not pleasant) smells throughout the store. I did find a sweatshirt I really enjoyed, so the sweatshirt alone is why I’m rating it two stars. The prices aren’t much cheaper than any other tourist shop around. The checkout experience was weird as they rang it up and then no receipt printed so they gave us one that was in the receipt dock from the day before (someone else’s random receipt). It’s also really hard to tell if someone is an employee if they are not behind the counter as they don’t (at least the ones I saw) wear anything identifying themselves as an employee. If you’re looking for somewhere with a lot of options, this is your place. If you’re looking for this sweatshirt pictured, there were many left and it is really soft. If you’re looking for a put together place, maybe look...
