We stayed at the Mountain Lodge. SHABBY! The shower curtain liner had black mold. I called around 4 PM when we arrived and told them about it. By 7PM it was still the same. I had to call a second time. One of the TVs did not work well, so we told the guy who came with the liner, he said he would come in the morning, never came. Restaurants were pretty expensive and few, and some were closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Very little options for dining. In the lobby there was a regular table with a plastic across the center passing as a ping pong table. I asked for the paddles and ball and they expected us to pay $2.50 or $2.75 for 20 minutes! For the actual skiing, I have skied 3 times in my life once in NC, twice in CO. Last time in CO, about 25 years ago I did pretty well and did one blue run at the end. So I would classify myself as a beginner with good prospects of quickly becoming an intermediate skier. My plan was to start real easy for first morning and progress into the green runs. First of all, in early March with record snow for the year there was no snow on the surrounding mountains, the only snow to be found was on the ski runs themselves, so the view left something to be desired. The information about the ski runs was sketchy and hard to find. The only beginner little hill I found went from the Mountain Lodge area to the Village. Unfortunately there was no lift of any kind to take you back up the hill, so I needed to remove the skis and walk back uphill carrying the skis and poles and on very uncomfortable ski boots. I did that twice, got all sweaty, fell a couple of times because with the snow conditions (packed and slippery) it was hard to turn and easy to slip and fall, so I called it quits. If you are very proficient at skiing I would say the ski facilities are adequate, but be advised that I found the snow pretty packed (not fluffy) and with ruts, not sure if the regular runs (green, blue and black diamond) would have been as bad since I did not get to try...

Our family stayed here on a last minute "Bluebird Bargain". We had low expectations going in, since Snowshoe's Bluebird Bargain program doesn't even tell you where you're staying until you check-in. We were pleased to find that we'd be in the Mountain Lodge, right by the slopes and next to the Village.
Our room (#211) was rather dated, which doesn't really bother me. It did need quite a bit of maintenance. Linoleum peeling up off the floor in the entryway and bathroom. Large gap by the bathtub allowing water to get below the linoleum, making the subfloor a bit squishy. Half of the lightbulbs in the fixtures were either missing or nonfunctional. (I called to ask for more lightbulbs and was told they'd "put in a ticket". After 6 hours, with no light in the bathroom until I moved bulbs from other fixtures, I went to the front desk to ask for some. The lady at the desk had no knowledge of any maintenance request, but offered me a shoe-box full of used bulbs to see if any would work. They did, so she turned out quite helpful.)
Although quiet hours ("strictly enforced") begin at 10:00pm, there was loud noise well past that - mostly from small unsupervised children running up and down the halls, and really loud neighbors - the walls are quite thin. During our stay, the hand-rail in the main stairwell near our room was ripped off the wall, lying on the gound.
Our room was very hot. The heat did not come from any unit we could control inside our room, but from within the lodge building itself. We had to open a window (in sub-freezing temperatures) just to keep the room cooled to a reasonable temperature.
Having said all this, given the Mountain Lodge's location, we had a great ski vacation. While I think the Mountain Lodge itself deserves less than the 3 stars I gave it (and acknowledging that other rooms may be different), I would certainly stay here again for a ski vacation. LOCATION...

Went to the front desk asking for it to be cleaned and they called someone to "sweep" (NOT vacuum) the room. Ladies at the front desk seemed annoyed that we were asking for anything. Also none of the staff wear masks so Snowshoe "masks required" signs are definitely just for show, as are the "sanitized" tamper strips they put on the doors. Even after the floor was swept and moped, it was still pretty dirty. Ended up using our little car hand vac to try and clean the area rug which seemed like hadn't been vacuumed ever, and cleaning wipes to clean the counters and floor.
The other major issue is the noise level in this particular unit. There is a window in the bedroom that looks out directly in to the lobby. Lights in the lobby shine into the bedroom and they play music loudly in the lobby pretty much all day. From this unit, you hear every ding from the elevators and all the luggage carts rolling around. The luggage cart parking area happens to be right outside the bedroom window. Fortunately the owner provided a box fan so we used that to try and drown out the noise and just slept on the pull out couch.
Minor defects like the bathroom mirror falling off the wall, mismatched and burnt out lightbulbs in the bathroom light fixture, bathroom fan not working and holes in the wall from old towel bars are lesser issues.
Owner of this unit did try to make things nice for their guests with newer furniture, newer TVs, and a well stocked kitchen. I'm giving this place 2 stars based on their efforts. It just seems like the management is really letting them down with the cleaning and...
