Puka Swimwear — Local services in Maui

I have gone back and forth for a few months about writing this review because I genuinely hate leaving poor reviews but after speaking with a few friends who brought to my attention they would want to know I feel obliged, I am disappointed by Kat and Natalie’s customer service. I have supported this company for years, and have bought serval suits from them. One of my suits that’s barely a year only, with very minimal and seasonal use in only the ocean and fresh lakes (live in Canada..) has started to deteriorate. I reached out as my other suits that I have cared for/ worn in the same way (hand wash and hang dry) have been okay, but this one has deteriorated so quickly with such little use that this is likely a fabric defect/weakening. This type of thing happens which I totally understand, and I am by no means upset by this or saying their suits are necessarily bad quality. I am sure this is not due to misuse and do think it could have been a very simple fix by the owners. Instead they have responded defensively, and in a rude/blaming demeanour. A shame that a $200USD suit has a less than a one year lifespan, and that this “high quality” brand thinks it’s normal for their suits to do this, or is okay to treat their loyal customers in this manner. I’ve been going to Maui with my family since I was young, and first discovered Puka Swim on our most recent trip in June this year. Not only was it the cutest little shop ever, but the service was incredible. I love to shop with my mother in Kihei every year we go to Maui, and knowing this is a mother/daughter owned brand made shopping with them all the more special. The quality of the suit I purchased is unmatched. Bathing suits are so hard to shop for, but don’t have to be anymore when shopping with Puka. I ordered another customized design and it came to me so quickly! Sizing is actually true to what it’s label says, the patterns are gorgeous and it is handmade with Aloha. I cannot wait to continue to shop with these gals and highly recommend it to anyone wanting unique and high...

Had a suit custom made after trying on different styles/sizes in other patterns. I appreciated being able to pick out the pattern, being able to choose which kind of straps and cut/fit for the suit pieces. Material is so comfortable. Fit is flattering. Mother and daughter team with such good service, no pressure, so kind and helpful. I lost my phone there and they charged it for me before I picked it back up. They weren’t sure the suit would get done before I was heading home. I was expecting it to be shipped, but they got it done two days before my return home, such an exciting and pleasant surprise!
