My husband made dinner reservations for me in honor of Mother's Day. Neither of us had dined at this restaurant, so we were excited about the plans. We were politely greeted by the hostess, she ushered us to an outdoor table. The ambience was exquisite with the beautiful Hawaiian creamy peach smell waffering through the air. Perfect room lighting with soft rock music in the background. Our waitress, cheerful greeted us, offering food & drink suggestions. Our drinks arrived, my husband ordered me a daiquiri- beautiful in the glass as the taste was good. My husband's coconut Martini was excellent he said. Our sharable arrived - goat cheese dip. It was okay, as I know I have a particular palate. Again, my husband enjoyed the dish. I was really looking forward to my crab salad, as I love both salads & seafood. My salad arrived, the waiter added ground pepper upon my request. My husband 's ribeye steak was served after my dish. My crab salad was disappointing in presentation and taste. The salad consisted of "can like" crab and lettuce. I would have enjoyed more variety of vegetables and just a spoonful more of salad dressing. My husband gnawed through his steak, often commenting that it tasted good, but it sure had a lot of gristle for choice cut of meat. Although, our experience was not the outcome we wanted, we paid the bill & included a genious tip also. My husband and I have dined in other Maui, Kona, Oahu restaurants as well as several Washington state restaurants along with restaurants across the states, and Caribbean. In all fairness, your regular dinner menu looks appealing with the food choices. I only wish we would have a come at a...
Read moreWe stopped by Tommy Bahama Restaurant for lunch while vacationing on Maui. It was one of the best restaurant experiences we had on the island. So, allow me to list the positives: (1) We were all given water at the table plus a carafe of water to use to refill our glasses. Why don't more restaurants do this? One of my biggest pet peeves about restaurant service are beverage glasses that remain empty during the meal. (2) Server assistants that contribute to a positive experience. Not only did they deliver food and clear tables, they also refilled our water carafe without us asking when it became low. (3) Friendly, efficient server. We were greeted warmly and lacked for nothing during our meal. (4) Nice atmosphere. Tables were not crowded together and the restaurant was decorated with a nice relaxed vibe. (5) Excellent food. My fish tacos were the best I tried from three restaurants on the island. My wife enjoyed her filet mignon tacos and my sister and brother-in-law liked their fish sandwich. There were a couple minor negatives: (1) Construction noise from a next door building project (not the restaurant's fault.) (2) The patio doors were open allowing cool fresh air into the room (a good thing). But a few sparrows decided that the open door policy meant that they were welcome inside (not so good). To be fair, the birds remained on the floor and away from our table and did not disrupt our meal. We were all glad we chose Tommy Bahama and agreed it was one of the best lunches we have while...
Read moreNever a disappointed when visiting any of the locations….and I’ve been to a lot!
Happy Hour definitely something we visit for at every location and order the famous Mai Tai. All locations may have a slightly different appetizer menu and could be a slightly different in price. Different locations vary with start of the Happy Hour but available food items are mostly consistent. Some Happy Hour start at 2 PM but most are 3 PM - 5 PM.
*FYI, if you visit for Happy Hour make sure you tell the server “if they don’t ask you” that you want the Happy Hour drink and not the standard drink. I learned this recently the hard way, I found out that you have a choice of the Happy Hour Mai Tai verse the standard Mai Tai. Apparently the difference is the liquor they use when making it for you, the Happy Hour drink comes with well liquor verse call liquor or top shelf liquor. It was an honest mistake by our server who didn’t ask and ordered us the regular drink, we didn’t know you had a choice. Brief history on this, no other locations I’ve been to have ever told me this and I’ve always been charged at Happy Hour prices. After questioning our tab this was explained to us by the Management who by the way was very professional and took care of the situation for us.
Great job Tommy Bahama, your restaurants, Marlin Bars and clothing line are top quality and I will continue to visit your different locations and purchase your clothing and household...
