Dear Regal Cinemas Corporate,
I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding an incident that took place at your McDonough, Georgia location on 7/25/25. I was treated with hostility and publicly embarrassed by the general manager, Samuel Cooper, based solely on the outline of an object on my person â which turned out to be a flashlight, not a weapon.
Mr. Cooper aggressively questioned me, insisting that I admit to carrying a firearm. Despite me showing that the object was a flashlight, he continued to pressure me to confess and ultimately denied me entry unless I returned to my vehicle â all without any visual confirmation of a weapon or any violation of law.
While I understand Regal has the right to establish policies for its property â including prohibiting firearms â I also have protected rights under Georgia law, specifically:
O.C.G.A. § 16-11-126 allows lawful weapons carry without a license (as of 2022) for eligible individuals. There is no legal requirement under Georgia law to disclose to private individuals whether or not one is carrying a weapon, unless interacting with law enforcement under specific conditions.
In other words: Mr. Cooper had the right to ask, but I was not legally obligated to answer, particularly when there was no visible firearm. His insistence on a verbal admission, even after being shown that no weapon was visible, was not only inappropriate â it bordered on coercion and harassment.
Adding to this, your theater does not have any clearly posted signage at the main entrance regarding a no-firearm policy. I had to search after the fact and found the sign located in only one obscure area, not readily visible upon entry.
To summarize: ⢠I was legally carrying, concealed, and not in violation of any Georgia statute. ⢠I was pressured to âadmitâ something I was not obligated to answer. ⢠I was denied entry based on an assumption, not evidence. ⢠Your signage was not clear or prominently posted as required for enforcement of such policies.
I respectfully request the following: A formal review of this incident and manager Samuel Cooperâs conduct. Staff retraining at this location to respect both Georgia law and Regalâs customers. Proper and visible signage at all public entrances if Regal intends to enforce a no-weapons policy.
I am a law-abiding citizen and frequent moviegoer. I should not be treated like a threat for legally and peacefully exercising my rights. I hope Regal will take this matter seriously and prevent future incidents like this from...
Read moreThis theatre is absolutely turned to rubbish. I used to come here all the time with my kids. A manager named Marcus Howard(unsure of last name I think it was Howard) was always quick to accomadate us. My son fell ill while we were watching a movie and he immediately offered us refunds on both our tickets and snack items. The next time he saw us he inquired about my sons health. I haven't seen him in months I don't know it's because he's not working with the company anymore or he was moved to a different location, but he was great. I believe there is a new manager running it I have seen him on the last three times I visited and he was nowhere near friendly nor did he appear to be to thrilled to be working. His name was either Sam or Seth something with an S. Horrible with names. I could be wrong about him running it I haven't been back in awhile. Also they do not have enough employees working to serve costumers efficiently and the ones they do have are always too busy talking to assist you. There are two that have been really great to me and my kids. One was behind the ticket counter and the other behind the snack bar. I know the girl selling tickets was named Morgan and the girl selling snacks was Lauren. Morgan was very friendly and helped me get a new regal card without losing any of my points. Lauren was great with my kids and even offered to cover the rest of my snack cost when I couldn't get my debit card to work. Both are very professional, friendly girls. There is nothing wrong with the cleanliness though I wish they would upgrade their seating to a recliner like AMC has done. I'll continue to pop in every now and again when I'm close by and to keep checking for Marcus but this theatre is average compared to others and as I said before costumer service for the most part has...
Read moreIâve lived near this theater for 18 years. My dad would always take me to it on the weekends when I was little. The popcorn, candy, and the couple arcade games made it such a blast for me. Iâve never had a problem with this movie theater for the eighteen years Iâve visited it. I canât stand people saying things like, âYou need new chairs.â Or âThe pricing is terrible.â If you donât like the chairs, then maybe build your own movie theater for a change and get the chairs you want. Because McDonough is a calm, country town, we are just happy to get a theater. As for the pricing, you should walk in with a clear thought of having to spend a decent amount of money, I mean itâs a business and people work here who need pay. But tickets for an adult are $11.00-$13.00. So thatâs about $20-$25 dollars for tickets. Now snacks, remember you donât always have to get a snack. But if you do just get a small/medium popcorn (not a large bucket as tempting as it is, because trust me you wonât finish it.) and a drink to share with your loved one. It will come up to around $20. So overall spending $50 or so (including tax) at a movie theater is not bad judging the other theaters Iâve been to. And if anyone here is reading this, and asking, âWell what if I have kids and they are hungry?â Regal movie theater has what my dad and I used to call a âlaptop snack boxâ itâs where a child can get a little bit of popcorn, a small package of M&Ms or gummies and a small drink and itâs only $6.00. More than one child? Then you should already be prepared to spend a decent amount over $50.00. But all in all I have always loved this movie theater and I will always come here no matter what! Keep...
