I really wish I could give ZERO stars for my family's FIRST experience at this restaurant today! Me, my husband, and mother went here for dinner around 4pm. We found Sweet Auburn BBQ on a savings website called CLIPP. Once we got to the restaurant, we thought the restaurant was closed because it was so dark and no other customers were there. We were seated and the waiter came over to service us. Before putting in our orders, I clearly explained to the waiter that we needed two separate checks because we found them on CLIPP and my husband has his own account and I have mine. She said, "sure! No problem at all and smiled." When she took my husband's order, I even double checked to be sure she was putting his on his own ticket because of our separate CLIPP accounts. She confirmed it was a separate ticket for his order and she would redeem the CLIPP coupons for our separate tickets when she brings our checks out. She still didn't mention that it was a policy for one CLIPP per table.
After it was time to pay our checks, the same waiter then tells us they can only accept one CLIPP for the table. I was shocked when the waiter said this to us!😲 We felt bamboozled big time!!! The waiter never mentioned one time that she could only take one CLIPP coupon for our table!!! She said she would get the manager to explain what she failed to tell us when I clearly told her me and my husband had two separate tickets with two separate CLIPP accounts BEFORE ORDERING!!!
The manager was very disrespectful speaking to my husband! She said, "it's the restaurant's policy and not our fault." She said, "I only work here and it's not the waiter's fault either." She explained that other customers had complained about this same issue with their CLIPP accounts, so that tells me that we weren't the only ones that got bamboozled using CLIPP coupons here. This seems to be BIG hustle game they are using to get money from people. They make people believe one thing and change the rules when the checks come out. My husband was trying to explain that we told the waiter about our separate tickets and CLIPP accounts and she started yelling SIR very loudly and to my husband and he told her he is older than her and would not be disrespected. She claimed she was going to help but said, "I'm not going to help now because you are disrespecting me!!" She was yelling so loudly!!! We have never experienced this at a restaurant before in my entire life!!!
This restaurant is clearly struggling and msy need to shut down if this is the type of management and service you hired to run your restaurant. It seems to be a REAL ISSUE here because the place was completely empty and they clearly HUSSLED me and my family out of our money. The food way OVER PRICED!!! They actually had the nerve to add gratuity to our checks!! The food was not cooked right! The ribs were burnt and seemed like it had been over microwaved. The ribs came out very quickly and I know it takes at least a little time to prepare ribs. They are using CLIPP to hussle money from people!! First of all, the one CLIPP PER TABLE RULE should be clearly stated in the CLIPP details! The waiters should not be telling people it is fine to have separate tickets for separate CLIPP accounts to pay the bill. This has never been a problem at any other restaurant we have used a CLIPP for.
Now I understand why this restaurant is on CLIPP trying to pull in customers. Yall should allow people to use there separate CLIPP accounts to pay for this over priced burnt food. Gratuity is being automatically added because y'all know no one is going to tip for over priced, burnt ribs, and...
Read moreEdit: One Year Later. I was completely honest in my first review, which I will keep written below, and I'll be as equally honest in my new one.
Before I begin, I will say that the service I've had every time has been great. The atmosphere is pretty nice there, too. My main complaint comes from the food, which is why you would even go there to begin with.
That being said, I've been back here quite a few times since I made my review, and in that original review you'll see that I gushed about the brisket. Yeah, I don't know what happened, but that brisket is no longer worth coming here for. I don't make complaints unless there's like a turd on my plate or something, because it's not the server's fault the food isn't up to par, but that damn brisket is as tough as boot leather now. Even the fat is tough. I tried to pull my brisket apart with my fingers, which should take absolutely no effort at all, and it was a real struggle. I had to break out my knife to cut it, which is ridiculous. It was even hard to chew, but I still ate it, because I didn't want to disrespect the animal that died to feed me...it had already been disrespected enough. This has happened multiple times now, and I won't be fooled again. Last time I come here, unfortunately. I hope you guys do better in the future.
The sides are still pretty dang good, especially the pimento cheese wontons, but avoid the brisket at all costs.
Old Review: As someone who travels for a living, I've got to say this is one of the best BBQ restaurants I've ever been to. From the Carolinas, to Memphis, Kansas City, to Austin, Texas, this place is phenomenal. The service was great, the atmosphere is nice, the appetizers I've had thus far have been delicious (especially the mac'n'cheese), but hands down the star of the show is their brisket. The bark on it is about as close to perfection that you can get south of heaven, and the slices I got had the best ratio of fat to lean content. It's just buttery smooth, and melts in your mouth.
Best brisket I've ever had in Georgia, and that's saying a lot. I've had lots of badass brisket. I can't wait to come back, and I just walked...
Read moreI’ll start by saying that Sweet Auburn’s is a special place for my husband and I. We frequented the highland location when we first started dating. After moving to McDonough I was so excited to see the food trucks, and even more excited when the restaurant opened. Since then i have been there 4 times. Each time the food is great but takes forever, and servers don’t seem to be attentive or want to be there. I know that Sweet Auburn’s takes care of their people so I’m not sure what’s going on at this location but the servers are lackluster. Today my family of 5 and a toddler stopped by around 230/240, they ordered the $120 combo platter and a separate meal. They receive their food around 330. They were all pleased as the food was great but my husband & I arrived at 350 and never saw the server to order drinks. We sat outside in front of the big windows and my husband even went inside to let the host know we would like to order drinks. When the server finally came we were all ready to leave. But we still had to wait on the pie that had been ordered, we requested it be to go and asked for the bill and boxes. The server asked if we wanted drinks but that ship had sailed. Upon receiving the bill there was a $30 charge for large party and had we all been there the whole time i wouldn’t have any problem. Without the two of us it was 5 adults plus a 2 year old. I don’t know if the 2 year old counted as the six but i think it’s frustrating to charge a large party fee when the rest of the party wasn’t acknowledged or serviced. If we had been asked if we wanted a beverage or even spoken too i could understand the charge. I’m honestly just disappointed that I’ve continued to come here and the service never improved. I’ll drive to the highland location for their stellar...
