Our experience with Bouyah Watersports occurred on 8/29/20 and 8/30/20. We noticed the jet skis on the beach on 8/29, so we went to the hut to ask about renting a jet ski. We talked to Fernando. He told us that they were booked up for the rest of the day. He explained how it is first come, first serve, but he also recommended booking online. He explained how to complete the boater's exam to get the license. I took pictures of all the signs around the hut so that we had the information on hand to book the jet skis when we got back to our hotel room. When I went on the website later that day to book a jet ski tour, I learned that there are multiple Bouyah Watersports locations. I tried calling the number on the website to get clarification about the location, but the call went straight to voicemail. I couldn't find the name anywhere on the pictures I took of the hut. We decided to arrive at the hut early on 8/30 so that we could be first in line. We paid and took the boater's exam ($10) the night before so that we were ready. When we saw the first workers arrive on 8/30 around 11:30 am, we approached them to ask about getting on the tour. The first person we encountered was Eddie. He said that he is a tour guide and that he had room for us on his first tour (12 pm) today. He said that we will just need to pay for the spot once the hut officially opens. Later, Fernando (who we learned is the hut manager) arrived and said that there is no room on the tour because there are online bookings that get priority. Eddie tried to get Fernando to work something out for us since he already promised us a spot. Fernando made no promises to us but agreed to go see if he could find another jet ski. A while later, we saw Fernando come back with another jet ski. Eddie ran over to talk to him and said that we were good to go on the tour. Eddie said that we just needed to wait for Fernando to check our boater's license and pay for the tour. Altogether, we ended up waiting for about an hour and an half before Fernando finally approached us again. In this exchange, Fernando acted extremely unprofessional in front of us and other customers. He told us that we weren't getting on the first tour because it is booked up with online reservations now. Us and Eddie were dumbfounded because we thought that we were good to go since he came back with another jet ski earlier. He said that it's got to go someone else. He then rebuked Eddie in front of us and other customers blaming him for the whole situation. Fernando had a rude, uncaring attitude throughout the whole encounter. It was entirely unprofessional. In the end, Eddie asked Fernando to come over to apologize to us and explain that the situation that happened wasn't Eddie's fault. Fernando did so. I explained that I was most upset about being led on for an hour and a half thinking we were going on the tour. We ended up wasting precious vacation time. We will definitely not be back to this location. I wanted management to be aware of this incident. We would have loved to go on a tour with Eddie because he was energetic and enthusiastic. We are bummed...

We came with a group of three friends to ride jet skis and paid $250 per person for one hour. What we got was barely 30 minutes of riding and a very unpleasant experience.
The instructor seemed either in a bad mood or simply didn’t want to work. He gave us a quick rundown of the rules and then followed us, constantly shouting instructions and making the experience miserable. “Don’t go there.” “Don’t get closer than 7 meters.” “No pictures. No videos.” We were respectful, followed the rules, kept distance, and still, he was rude and aggressive — even screamed at us just for taking photos of each other from a safe distance.
Then, out of nowhere, he ended the session early, without any explanation or refund.
There’s no fun, no freedom, and no point in paying for this. The riding area is ridiculously small, and all the good reviews? Total lies. Locals later told us this is a common issue here.

I went jet skiing here recently, and it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with any outdoor activity. The jet skis looked old and worn out — definitely not what you’d expect for the price. The instructor seemed more worried about his machines than the actual people riding them.
He kept yelling at us the entire time: “Keep your distance!” “Don’t ride too close!” “Don’t go that way!” There was no freedom to enjoy the ride — it felt like being constantly watched and scolded.
We tried to follow the rules, but nothing was ever good enough for him. He made us feel like we were doing everything wrong, even when we weren’t. His whole attitude ruined the experience.
If you’re looking for fun or even basic respect as a customer — look elsewhere. Totally not worth the money...
