You are greeted to a wonderful scent as soon as walk in to the place. The host was very friendly and very welcoming. We sat outside by the pool which was very relaxing and very nice. Our waitress Victoria was so sweet I told her from the beginning about my sensitivity to soy. And she was so helpful in helping me find dishes that did not contain any soy, and even though there was not that many for me to choose from I was still able to get some of sushi rolls that were not bathed in soy. She even felt so bad for me because my options were very few. That I know for a fact that she spoke to the assistant manager and discussed the situation because she came to the table and brought me a complimentary salmon and himachi negiri .. and because I couldn't dip my sushi in soy sauce she came with a bottle of coconut aminos which is a great subtitute when you can't have soy. So thank you Victoria and Misuki sorry if I butchered your name. But you were great. And thank you for being so sensitive to my needs. Ok So now for the food that I could not have because it has soy but that my friends truly enjoyed. my friends order the spicy tuna crispy rice the rice is the perfect texture the flavor she described as spicy from the tuna and sweet from the unagi sauce with an extra kick to the wasabi crema that was put on top. Oxtail fried rice it's a different concept of fried rice the rice texture according to them was perfect and the amazing flavorful oxtail and the egg on top Made creamy and it's just a party of flavors.
The fried chicken that I was able to have had the perfect texture it was crispy in the outside but not greasy for some reason weird but it's true. The salmon rolls that I had was the negatoro and the yellow tail something sorry I forgot . But unfortunately I had only the coconut aminos to dip in because all the sauces had soy . So I can imagine that it probably taste even better with the sauce that...
Read moreI thought a lot about my experience this evening at Blue ribbon, and I just didn’t feel right NOT leaving a review to tell the world just how great this restaurant really is.
I’ve had a lot of authentic and very good Japanese food and sushi in my day, but blue ribbon pushes the boundaries of a cuisine in all the right ways while still staying true to its roots.
When I came here I expected good sushi, just the same good sushi that you can get in pretty much any city in the country, and I was blown away by the originality and creativity in the menu.
We had:
Miso Brussels sprouts: seasoned to perfection, perfectly cooked, amazing flavors. Best Brussels dish I’ve ever had.
Shishito peppers and watermelon: perfectly balanced, great and different combination, best shishitos I’ve had.
Sashimi and Sushi deluxe combination: the salmon sashimi was the best salmon I’ve ever had, hands down...all of the other sashimi and nigiri that came along with it was incredibly fresh, and really special...you can tell the chefs here get excellent ingredients and it gives you a really great experience.
Blue ribbon roll: the signature blue ribbon roll, lobster and caviar on top. You must try this roll, never seen anything like it, never had anything like, it was excellent. The lobster was perfectly cooked, the caviar on top eliminated the need for soy sauce and really balanced out the dish.
To finish up we had the Oxtail fried rice...when I tell you that this dish was amazing it doesn’t do it justice. It was perfect. Balanced, wholesome, filling, it hit my SOUL. Words can’t begin to describe how good this dish was...if you go here please get it, your soul will thank me later.
It was a great experience, service was good and wait staff friendly, food was unique, thoughtful, expertly made. If you’re in the area, or in Miami at all, definitely try it out you...
Read moreWas here on a Saturday night about a week before Christmas. Fun, enjoyable vibe. Good music from the DJ. Voices got loud, really loud a couple of times, gave the place a great energy, like it was 2018 or 2019 again. Food is good to very good, innovative. At this location there's not much in the way of ''conventional'' Japanese restaurant meat entrees like chicken breast teriyaki or beef teriyaki or simple steak. The chicken is only a fried chicken dish and the beef offerings are ''fancier'' specialty-type of cuts. As far as I know it's unique to Miami and not say, the LA locations. I had a sampling of food including salmon sushi, tuna sashimi, wagyu gyoza, pork spare ribs, vegetable fried rice, and some other appetizers.
Prices are steepish: vegetable fried rice is about 30, as are the gyozas (both probably around 8-10 at a ''regular'' restaurant). Salmon sushi was eight dollars a piece, one of the highest I've had in recent memory. I had five pieces, so 40 bucks right there. Our bill for several adults was around 550.
We were served by three staff and all were attentive and helpful. A big downside was that every one of our table's seat cushions were noticeably covered with food stains and what not. The cushions are white fabric and were splattered with brown stuff and just kind of dirty overall. I was wearing long, thick pants, having just flown in from Chicago that day, so I was ''shielded'' somewhat but a date wearing a short, thin dress might be very hesistant to sit down--
All in all I'd eat here again but management would have to scrub down the...
