I'm an engineer, so I'll admit I'm not the type to get lost in a typical art museum. But the Grohmann Museum is a true exception. I went to see a special railroad art exhibit and ended up exploring the entire museum, completely mesmerized. The collection changed how I think about art, revealing it not as an abstract concept, but as a powerful storytelling medium.

Each painting and sculpture tells a clear story of human labor, showcasing the evolution of work, tools, and industry. Unlike the usual portraits or abstract pieces found elsewhere, the works here felt incredibly relatable. It's a fascinating look at history through the lens of human ingenuity and effort.

And for the slight cost of only $5, students/seniors $3, it's well worth a visit. Don't forget to head to the...

The museum is nice and has a nice collection of art. Unfortunately it has a glass elevator and glass atrium and stairs that go up along the glass atrium. Some might think that sounds pretty and it is unless you suffer from a fear of heights and get trapped in the elevator on the 3rd floor. We used the call button to get help which came pretty quickly but whatever they did caused the elevator to drop from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor VERY quickly. We didn't get any warning that the elevator was going to move much less drop so dramatically. This was pretty bad experience and when the doors were opened for us we were not greeted with an apology, explanation, or any sign of concern for our wellbeing. So it is a nice little museum but if you go there,...

Wow!! What a kid-friendly find!! We are vacationing with babies and it’s difficult to find places that they can walk and are child safe and this fit the ticket perfectly. The staff were extremely helpful and even stored our double stroller behind the counter (side-by-side double-wide strollers will not fit well here) while we enjoyed all the exhibits. The rooftop garden was absolutely gorgeous with a view. The paintings were incredible to see people at work throughout the ages. Men, women, and children in every occupation. There is a space in the basement to study or eat which was nice. Clean restrooms on every floor. At the end, the manager carried our stroller outside for us because the kids were asleep. I can’t recommend this...

This is a gem in the middle of Milwaukee! A museum with art dedicated to work and industry may not be typical, but it is truly breathtaking! The tour will start on the roof where you step into the most beautiful rooftop green area filled with grass, amazing flowers, walkways and huge statues positioned around the perimeter of the roof which can be seen from the street below looking upward. The collection ranges from current paintings to some going back the the mid-1500s. Don't forget to look upto the ceiling and down to the main entry floor, as art surrounds you. I highly, highly recommend this museum!
