Me and my wife went for our wedding anniversary.. We like to try different places so we decided to go to Rodizo in downtown Milwaukee.. Upon arrival we were immediately greeted by the hostess and brought back to our table as we had reservations. The atmosphere and settings were nice as was the hostess, but in our online reservations they asked if it was a special occasion which it was so I figured it may have been a in a more quiet part of the restaurant. We walked into the dining hall and sat with 20-30 other individuals. Although it was hard to understand almost every server as they were soft spoken and hard to hear over the other diners, we tried every beef they brought out to us and also tried two types of chicken which was all of the chicken along with the bacon wrapped jalapeños.. We were a little disappointed about them not having lamb, we were told that the previous night was busy and they ran out. The chicken was great! Flavorful not dry at all and I would eat that again. The Parmesan beef was excellent as well, most other cuts of beef were extremely salty although tender. There was dissatisfaction with some of the meats as they were dried and not as tender as others, but they were the ends of the skewers. We tried many things from the salad bar…some items we would have liked to try, but they looked as if they’d been sitting for hours. The Rodizio potato salad had a dry brown film over the entire pan that was untouched, they didn’t have the mozzarella and tomatoes.. Anyways we were given two glasses of champagne on the house for the occasion after we were asked if it was a special occasion. It took almost 15 minutes to get the champagne and they were two different colors clear and beige, they also tasted and smelled different. Mine was extremely sour and smelled like a deep dark beer my wife’s was fresh and lightly fruity with a normal smell of champagne. There were no bubbles in the champagne at all and they added a maraschino cherry to both of our glasses, mine was at the bottom of the glass and my wife’s was floating at the top of the glass the second they were placed at the table. I would have loved to stay, but felt extremely nauseous and sick to my stomach. I let my wife finish eating as we were waiting for the bill and declined any dessert.. as we were waiting for the bill my wife began to feel nauseous and sick to her stomach… Ultimately when we left the restaurant, more or less in a rush after the bill, I ended up vomiting in a nearby flower pot within three minutes I felt better. My wife also ended up vomiting at home and felt sick for the rest of the night. Our reservation was for 6:15pm, we left by 7:20pm. We arrived home by about 7:45pm which is the time my wife went into the bathroom.
All in all, we’re not sure if we would go again although we usually give restaurants second chances, but we make sure it’s a different time of day and a different day…
The black beans and rice at the salad bar were amazing! The Rodizio BLT was excellent! The mashed potatoes were decent as were the little cheddar biscuits… We were planning on a salad, but I felt ill before I could get any..
The worst part of this experience was the fact that we had plans for the rest of our anniversary evening, but ended up having to go home and call it quits due to the nausea.
Me and my wife we’re talking about what we both ate in common, and we are unable to figure out what could’ve made a sick I only had two sips of my Champagne and only drank water, so alcohol wasn’t a factor.
The only things that we had in common were the BLT salad we each had individual portions, and the...
Read moreWe were a couple of minutes early for the restaurant to open, we walked away, ready to sit in the car to await the opening when the door opened and we were greeted with a smile and an invitation to sit inside, out of the cold, for our reservation.
We were greeted by the hostess, who congratulated my parents on their anniversary of 53 years! And, when we were shown to our table, we passed by the incredible salad bar - everything looked so fresh and beautifully laid out.
When we were seated, someone immediately started pouring water into our glasses and our server, Bryan, came by and congratulated my parents again, offered them each a glass of Champaign, explained the menu, when he would be taking our drink order, how/when the meat would be coming around, and how to use the red/green indicator on our table.
When it comes to the food, let me start off by summing it up with one word - YUM!!! The items on the salad bar, both hot and cold, were delicious. We had an opportunity to try things we haven't eaten before (hearts of palm, some of the delicious salads, etc.) and some favorites with a Brazilian twist (potato salad, cinnamon glazed bananas). We all loved the black beans!
Now let's discuss the meats - PHENOMENAL! The meats were perfectly cooked (depending upon where it was cut - we were asked how we preferred our meat cooked and ranged from medium to rare), flavored wonderfully, and were incredibly juicy. Our favorites were the tri-tip, Maminha, and the ham, Presunto. The ham paired up with the grilled pineapple was just heaven!
Towards the end of our meal, our server stopped by and asked what our favorites were or if there was something on the meat menu we would like to try, but didn't get a chance to, so he could talk to the kitchen to ensure we had the opportunity to have them.
When dropping off the bill, our server kindly took our photo (several actually to ensure a good shot) for a memory of the day.
Clearly, we had a wonderful time, had delicious food, and enjoyed the experience eating at the Rodizio Grill in Milwaukee.
I can speak for everyone in our group and say we would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for great food and a true...
