I booked a 1 king bed guest room for 3 nights while attending a convention at the Baird center. I chose this hotel primarily due to its unique art deco style.||The king bed room is a double-size room and offers an incredible amount of space. The bathroom and shower cabin are also quite big for a solo traveller. The bed was very comfortable but the corner sofa and the chair were a bit stiff (think springs rather than upholstery). ||There's a convenient waist-high table in the room's entrance to put your things on when you prepare to go out or after you come back, and a wide bench next to the bed to comfortably put on/remove your shoes.||Housekeeping was excellent. Everything was well cleaned, the towels and water bottles were refreshed every day.||I ordered room service breakfast one early morning and it was promptly delivered within 20 minutes. However, I found the food was just average. The next day, I ordered and picked-up breakfast from resturant Brunch located 400 feet from the hotel. It offers a larger and better food selection for the same or lower prices. ||The mini-bar's snacks and drinks came in handy in the evenings because the only nearby convenience store closes at 7 PM. The mini-bar included a nice variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Getting food delivered to the hotel through Uber Eats or Door Dash is also easy as there is a fair amount of restaurants within driving distance.||The Wi-Fi average speed was between 50 to 60 Mbps and it was very reliable. I watched a lot of live streaming during my stay and did not have any connection or lag issues.||Self-Check out was available and a copy of the bill / charge folio was automatically...
Read moreStayed here for two nights during my wedding weekend. I have to say working with Katie getting the wedding blocks ready and everything set for the weekend was amazing and she accommodated us with everything I could ask for. The bellmen were also just absolutely fantastic everytime we encountered them.
That's where the compliments to this establishment's staff stops. The front desk staff was less than stellar everytime I interacted with them and I heard the same from many of our wedding guests. When I called to verify our stay the male on the phone couldn't find my reservation for the first few minutes and once I wanted to verify our late check out for our "get ready rooms" that Katie and I discuss, he told me he didn't care what Katie said and that they can't guarantee anything....
Then when I went over to the hotel after my wedding to check in again for that night I happen to have out a few gifts on the far right side of the front desk counter so that I could grab my ID out of my wallet. The lady at the front desk quickly told me that this was her work space and I wasn't allowed to put my stuff on the counter. Then, when I asked if a bellman could help us get all of the gifts up to our room I was told the carts were by the elevator and she stated, "I'm sure you can take care of it."
Overall this will not ruin my wedding but I will not recommend that hotel to any of my friends or...
Read moreOld building with cool Art Deco style and feel. Room was a good size, but we booked a queen room and the bed seemed smaller than a queen. Restaurant on premise was empty at all times, so we dined elsewhere. Convenient location, but the city is improving the area around there, so not a lot of shopping, but some food and bars within a mile.
Rooftop bar is booked for private events only. An employee told us it’s rarely open to the public or guests staying in the hotel, we checked it out early afternoom and they were setting it up for an event that night. Cool views, but the jacuzzi on premise pictured on all booking sites is under construction and according to the hotel hasn’t been open for years...
Price paid was not worth the stay. Hotel is generally run down, shower took 10+ minutes to warm up, bath supplies were cheap-glad we brought our own. Rooms are also generally dirty, carpeting and curtains need replacing, furniture needs updating.
The view outside our windows was a dumpster full of garbage and a parking garage. The building is currently under renovation and should be mentioned regardless of where you book. There was a note on the desk stating construction would take place 9-5, though I never heard work on our side of the building.
Overall a decent place to rest your head and wash up, but not for more...
