I want to preface this review by saying that I enjoyed the experience of picking out my dress at Miss Ruby - so much so that I purchased my dress through them. However, when my dress came in, my excitement quickly turned to stress because my dress was so tight that I could barely breathe. We asked the staff to show us my measurements that were taken at ordering and the designers size chart, to which they only pulled out my measurements and would not show us the size chart. They claimed that they ordered the size they did because my bust and hips measured under the sizing chart, and my waist measured at the exact measurement. The manager themself told me that if they were the one to take my measurements that day, they would have ordered the next size up, due to the structure and boning of the dress, and allowing for incidentals. That made me feel worse and proved to me that their staff was not well trained. I then asked them what could be done, to which they said they would keep the dress and send the seam allowance and my dress details to one of their own "trusted seamstresses" and report back if something could be done. I agreed and asked them to CC me on the email communication with that seamstress, which they did not. Over the next 24 hours I waited for the manager to respond back to me, while also calling around to the designer's other trusted boutiques in my area that carried my dress. I asked for their unbiased opinions and they all stated that the boutique was at fault and the dress should have been sized up due to the style of dress. The manager of Miss Ruby finally got back to me the next evening (at her convenience) and stated that their "trusted seamstress" could help me take out the dress. By that time I already had scheduled an appointment with another boutique's in-house seamstress, who was more than happy to help me, despite not ordering the dress through them. It's clear to me that the staff at Miss Ruby are not being properly trained on measuring (you can see that by reading through other reviews below, as well). The contract you sign at purchasing states that you have agreed to the measurements ordered and that the boutique is basically not at fault, should there be any issues once the dress comes in. The problem with that is that I trusted the stylists at Miss Ruby to take the correct measurements and know my dress so well that they would order the right size. I am not an expert in wedding dress sizing (like they should be), so when the stylists said I should order the size they recommended, I ordered it. There was no push back or fight on my end to get a smaller size - I simply took them on their word. Despite the fact that they helped me find the right dress, they've made the next few months before my wedding absolutely dreadful. Because of their lack of training and remorse, I will be spending the next few months worrying over alterations and dieting which are completely unnecessary stresses for brides - particularly for a petite bride like myself who does not have much they can loose. I can see that other reviews have been responded to with "a manager will be in touch". Now I don't know if that's true for those other reviews and if they truly were contacted, but please do not bother with me. I have already spoken with said manager and found them to be extremely unhelpful. For an organization that prides themselves on empowering women and helping brides find the perfect dress, you've truly ruined the...
Read moreIf you go to Miss Ruby’s, be prepared for them to say anything to make a sale. This was my experience with them.
After purchasing a dress, I found out they lied during the sales process about it being exclusive to Miss Ruby’s boutique. It made me lose total trust in them. It also made me wonder, if they’re willing to be untruthful about something as small as exclusivity, what else are they willing to be untruthful about?
For any future bride-to-be, I’d say Miss Ruby does fantastic marketing and has some beautiful dresses, but so do plenty of other stores. I’d recommend going somewhere more trustworthy with such an important and expensive purchase.
For anyone interested, here is the long story about what happened:
My Miss Ruby consultant promised me that the dress I ended up buying was exclusive to Miss Ruby. In person and over text (I have screenshots), they said, “the dress cannot be located online or at other boutiques.” Imagine my surprise when I was scrolling reddit and saw a bride post a picture of the dress.
I emailed Miss Ruby to ask why this exclusive dress was sold at a different boutique. They said, “The collection is also exclusive to our boutique in Milwaukee, WI, which is why you were told you would not be able to locate the collection elsewhere - the designer we work with has exclusivity requirements that vary state to state. That being said, the gowns are available to boutiques that operate outside of our exclusivity range, which is why the bride you connected with via Reddit was able to find the dress at a boutique out of state.”
I messaged the bride on reddit and found out she purchased the dress in Cambridge, WI – just a short drive away! Miss Ruby shouldn’t have been promoting exclusivity within an hour radius, much less the whole state, which was explained in the email, and certainly not the blanket statement said in-person and over text.
When I emailed them, they blamed the supplier but didn’t address that they were promoting total exclusivity when they knew they only had an “exclusivity range.”
I would recommend going elsewhere...
Read moreMiss Ruby Boutique was the best bridal shopping experience that I have ever had! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Peyton at the front desk who was friendly and offered us beverages. It was a warm and welcoming environment.
Hope helped me find my wedding dress and she was beyond amazing. Hope was knowledgeable, kind, personable, and she picked out the top two dresses that I tried on (she knew me well!). I appreciated how she included my family in the process while also being mindful of my preferences and opinions. Hope has the perfect personality for this and I will always appreciate that she found my wedding dress. Any bride will be lucky to work with Hope!
I came back to Miss Ruby Boutique a few hours after my appointment to say yes to my wedding dress. I had wanted to take some time to think about my decision. Claire was available to help me try on the dress again. Claire and I had a great conversation that helped seal the deal which was followed by champagne and a photo session. I am so thankful for her kindness and taking me in at the last minute.
Overall, Miss Ruby Boutique has impressed me for so many reasons. The first being, every staff member that I interacted with was phenomenal. I felt that they were all sharing my excitement. Secondly, there has been consistent communication since I booked the appointment and following the appointment. It is easy to get a hold of the staff at Miss Ruby with follow-up questions. Thirdly, some of the Milwaukee made dress purchases go towards organizations chosen by Miss Ruby which was a pleasant surprise. I had shopped at other bridal salons in the Milwaukee area and my experience at Miss Ruby exceeded all other salon experiences. My family who was with me during my appointments also agreed.
THANK YOU to the entire staff at Miss Ruby Boutique! It was truly a beautiful day there with my family who traveled to Milwaukee. I am so excited to wear my...
