Mary's Place is amazingly generous and kind. Masha'Allah. We were referred to here. Mary Jo gave us each new homemade throw blankets and new special toys to my daughter. We were given cash assistance and card assistance, beyond what we ever imagined would happen. there's free laundry, printing and computer use, playground with a very nice, big play area, and new bedding and towels and fully furnished room and kitchenette with a full sized bed and bunk bed. We have had a place to stay on a month-to-month basis and there's a savings plan in place where you give 40% of your income to save for moving into a place of your own. They have a 9pm to 5 am curfew and they expect one parent to be in at 5 pm to prepare meals for their kids and they have daily room inspections to make sure you are providing your children with a clean environment. I think this is great, because I know some parents don't do these things . People can't visit each other's rooms which I think is great. I am so happy to have been able to stay there. It's been a blessing for sure. It lifts you up and gives you hope of better days to come. Not feeling like you are in a ravine trying to get up and sliding back down. I never wanted to stay in a shelter before because I thought the environment would be terrible, but this is a very clean and controlled environment. It was very clean when we moved in. As far as the staff not being nice, yes, some come off as not very nice but it could be due to cultural differences and being used to dealing with unfavorable people maybe, but I've noticed that if you act nice, they'll respond nicely. I love...

Read moreMaryâs place is a âtransitional shelterâ meaning itâs meant for getting you the help you need to transition into a more settled place. People come in with these high expectations complaining about mice and bugs which is expected to happen when you have strangers coming and going like a revolving door with their belongings from the outside almost everyday. Mary Jo and her staff have been a great help to me and my family. I believe that is because I came in with a goals from the very beginning which was to work, save and look for a stable place for me and my children. Mary Jo is very resourceful, she helps those who really want a better life and new start. I also believe Mary jo has a strong gift of discernment when it comes to choosing families she decides to accept in her shelter. My advice to those who are seeking shelter and help from her is to really be honest about your situation, donât look for sympathy or pity from her just go in with your goals on fixing your situation and Mary jo will meet you half way but first she is looking to see if youâve taken the first steps to changing your situation. Like for example; if you are standing in line to get assistance with a bill at least try to show youâve attempted to pay something instead of coming to ask for her to pay the whole thing. I hope this review helps someone...
