I've always loved vinyls but never had a record player of my own. I walked in after driving by the place and having time to kill and walked out with a new record player and about six records for less than $120. 3 months later and I can't get enough. The classic rock section is amazing as are the pop and blues. You have to dig a bit through the classical stuff but its well worth it. I guess it's not that popular because they practically give it away so I've got a ton of the greats like Beethoven (!!!), Bach, and Mozart and a lot of some composers I've never heard of. You can often buy 3 or 4 records in a set for like 7 bucks or so. Prices normally range from about $5-$30 depending on wear and tear and popularity. For instance, I got a used ACDC for about $9 while the same album new was about $20. The guy who works there isn't extremely helpful but in my opinion, he doesn't need to be. Searching for music in this fashion is your own journey and he's always friendly and ready for a chat. This shop is not for someone looking to buy a Katy Perry CD and walk out. Don't get me wrong, she's a decent singer but you can go to Target for that; this store is for the kind of person who'd enjoy backpacking through Europe our trying different restaurants in New York City. It's an adventure in which you start looking for BB King and end up lost in the Beatles. You see some BeeGees over there and before you know it you're walking out with a Tchaikovsky from the 19th century. It's a highly personal, almost spritual journey in a rich environment. Highly, highly...
Read moreSean, the owner is a very cool dude. He seems a bit stand off in the begging, but opens up once he gets a sense that you appreciate the store. He appears to be a one man show, so I have much respect for that. If you like records stores that done have the feel of genuine records from a man who is passionate about what he does, well, this is not your store. The owner was kind enough to let me place some bookmarks out for customers and even offered space on his window if I had posters. So cool!
This place has an amazing selection of used records. Great selection for ones who like to collect. Not much on new records. Still, an amazing selection of hard to find records. Apparently it’s going up for sale! If I could, I’d buy it. Highly recommend this place. Tiny store but packed with amazing selection. I purchased SINATRA AT THE SANDS in great condition. And a hard to find, the Beatles at the Hollywood bowl. Excellent condition for and...
Read moreThis was once my favorite record store, a place that felt like a haven for music lovers. However, since it changed hands and is now owned by a younger individual, it seems to have lost its character and charm. The selection has significantly diminished, with far fewer albums to browse through, and the store now carries an odor of cannabis that detracts from the experience. The prices also appear to have risen, making it feel less accessible.
It’s evident that the new ownership doesn't invest the same care and attention that the previous owners did. The atmosphere lacks the warmth and passion that once defined the space, leaving it feeling neglected and uninviting. Sadly, it seems that time and progress have not been kind to RR; it's lost the essence that...
