Chuck, Your lengthy response (see below) to my wife's recent complaint on a contracted sale has nothing to do with our complaint which is as follows:

(Ms. Lewis , I am traveling out west today because my daughter is in labor with our grandchild but I read your one star review and I investigated immediately with our store manager Chris Floyd who has been with J&K Home Furnishings for over 20 years . Unfortunately with no warning Klaussner Furniture in Ashboro ,NC closed their business overnight and put 1,000 out of work in that small NC town .Klaussner has been in business for over 100 years . It also left us with many special orders that we could not ship but we traded them up to a higher end product from Bassett and every customer was very happy because they got a better product at the same price .We have over $ 259,000. worth of Klaussner furniture on the floor in custom fabrics . There was a meeting at the store since this just happen that all matching chairs and ottomans must be sold as a set . The store was in the process of tagging this product since it just happened . It is virtually impossible to sell a ottoman by itself in a custom fabric that matched the chair . if we don’t sell custom fabric chairs and ottomans as a set we would stuck with up to $ 100,000 of unsaleable products . It is very unfortunate this happened . I know Chris offered you the ottoman at cost but apparently that did not work for you . I am will to offer you a custom Bassett chair at the same price as the Klaussner chair which is a huge upgrade and you can choose the fabric . We will also offer you the same discount on any in stock chairs at any of our stores . I apologize for the poor communication but I promise you you will not get a better deal for the quality of the product and construction . I feel terrible for what happened and I want to make sure we will give you a much better deal . Every customer that had a Kluassner special order was thrilled to be upgraded to Bassett . The Klaussner closing down overnight was a shock to the furniture industry and it’s employees . I promise if you give us a chance to fix this I will make sure you will be happy . I sincerely apologize for this unfortunate event and hope you give us a chance to make you happy .I also pray for the 1,000 employees who lost their jobs .The Basset Brand is impeccable quality and workmanship made in North Carolina . I will make this a great deal for you I promise .

I stopped in on my way to work and was the ONLY client in the store yet never got spoken to or helped in any way for 25 mins until I got to the back of the store where David, the mattress salesman, asked if I needed anything. My first question was could I get some help, secondly, do I have to order items or are they available for purchase off the floor? David tried to find a sales lady who was willing to help. My questions never were answered except by a lady who was training new people who told me some items were available and some needed to be ordered and could take months but only the designers know which ones. Since I had now been there for 45 mins with no questions answered, I said I'm going to come back. When I came back 2 weeks later, I had an almost identical experience except after David helped find me someone the saleslady was snippy, rude, and acted completely put out that she had to help me. I purchased over $12,000 of furnishings else where within less than hour of leaving this store. I was ready to be sold an entire home full of furnishings & loved the selection here more, but the service and treatment is appalling. This was my experience at the main large store, I did not go to the Basset Design Center- perhaps I would have been treated better over there. Read moreThe purchase experience was great. The issue is the white glove delivery and set up along with a manufacture defect. First, the delivery issue. As soon as the truck arrived and I was showing where the table location, the driver asked to use my bathroom, while not closing the front door on a 95 degree day. I showed him the outside bathroom (still internal to the house and hvac controlled) and then met them by the truck. We took 4 chairs in and then they brought in the table, which needed the 4 legs installed. One guy went to the truck to get tools, and left the door wide open again. The table was assembled and they took the box, etc. away while leaving a good amount of Styrofoam beads in the house. After I vacuumed beads I went outside to find the bathroom door wide open, the light and exhaust fan on. So, basically I was air conditioning the outside for an hour. I paid for this service. If i had known just 8 screws had to be inserted i would have picked it up mysrlf. Next, one of the chairs has a defect on the seat. I contacted Customer Service and and I was told, after supplying pictures of the issue, that they would contact the manufacturer to determine how to fix it but, since it was July 4th weekend (it wasn't) that the manufacturer may to short staffed. The manufacturer is in Vietnam. I wrote back and stated the best solution for me, the customer, is to replace the chair, and for J&K to work with the manufacturer.
