456 Grand — Local services in New York

(Note: Myself and others previously left 1-star reviews regarding the noise situation from the restaurant downstairs. They have since re-done their patio and fixed the issue as of spring 2022 so I am redoing my review to reflect that)

Just renewed my lease here and I am largely happy with the building. The apartments are spacious and of fairly good quality. The super is kind and keeps the common spaces clean and well-maintained. The walls are thick and I barely hear my neighbors (until one of them bought a subwoofer but that's a different story). One sore point is that the windows are of poor quality and let a lot of sound through—if you are looking to rent facing Grand St make sure you are not a light sleeper as traffic noise can be loud. You can do a lot worse...

I truly love the layout of my unit, the geographic location of the building, and the super who maintains 456 Grand is phenomenal.

However, living on the H line of apartments comes with the borderline unlivable nuisance that is the music coming from the restaurant downstairs. Especially frustrating because neither the restaurant nor building management seems to want to...

Advice from previous tenant: do not ever move to 2A. Gym downstairs is a massive nuisance. Loud music, punchbag noise, and just all around awful neighbors. Management did little to nothing to help, in spite of us reporting the issue on day one of our lease. I guess that's what happens when your awful neighbors pay 10...
