A real rape- off. Stay away from this place because they will try to squeeze money from you even before you live there. My review reflects my poor experience with the rental office. I filled up an online application after I saw an apartment that was very small and expensive but I had to move and get in on July 1st and this was the only available apartment in the building. Talking to the rental agent at the building I got a very positive impression. The agent was very sweet and polite and promised to approve my application within few hours. Filling up the online application (don't do my mistake) on June 30th, I was charged for 2 types of payments. $125 as an application fee and $600 an online deposit which will be credited toward the rent. I called the rental office and the agent explained to me that if I apply at the office, then I won't have to pay the $600 but since its online, there is a deposit but I do not have to worry its refundable and in the worst case, if I do not sign a lease I will get refunded. It's sounded OK and logical and anyhow, I could not get to their downtown office that day.
I did not hear anything from them within few hours or a day and could not get any answer regarding my approval. On Monday, July 1st, after I had already found another apartment to move into that day, I received a message that I got approved and should come in and sign the lease and move in the same day. I let the rental office know, that It's too late and I am not taking the apartment. The rental agent who was so nice in the beginning raised her voice and threatened me that I wont receive back the $725 that I paid which included $600 "refundable" deposit as she claimed before. Her attitude was totally different and turned to be very aggressive. It did not help that I reminded her that she presented different policy in the beginning and that a deposit is not a fee and should be refunded if a deal does not go through for any reason. More than that, on their site nothing mentioned that in a case of application cancellation there was a $725 penalty. Few minutes later, my account on their website was closed down, the apartment was back on the market and soon got rented. There is noting that even shows my transaction with this company.
They had never returned my deposit. This is not a honest practice and its clear that charging $725 without any warning is a trap and consider as taking something without providing anything in return.
To get my money back I will have to sue them which I definitely will that.
BE CAREFUL! They...
Read moreI had a few experiences here that ruined it for me. For one, don't ever fill out the surveys they send you because they are not anonymous. A few months after we moved in, I filled out a survey that they sent to my email. In my survey I expressed my disappointment with a few interactions I had in the mail room. The next day I go pick up a package and the mail guy confronts me about what I wrote and goes into detail on specific things I mentioned in the survey. He then admitted that management had told him what I wrote and that he was very upset with me. Mind you, I never submitted a complaint regarding the incidents, I just thought I was submitting an anonymous survey in which they ASKED for feedback. I felt so uncomfortable and upset every time I had to pick up packages after that. I also called management to express how upset I was with their confidentiality and they didn't even care lol.
The next thing I would like to highlight is the whole AC situation. The project was not completed on time and the entire building had no AC during a heat wave. It really was unbearable and unlivable. The best part is management sent a terrible "apology email". Funny because when they were doing repairs in the lobby they hosted a breakfast for residents, but when they create horrible living conditions, they barely even acknowledge it. It was actually hotter in the apartment than it was outside. The windows barely open so there wasn't even airflow. It was so bad I would've rather left my dog in a locked car on a hot day with the windows rolled up than my own apartment. When we confronted management they said "sorry for the inconvenience". How is this a luxury building and they get away with things like this? Least they could've done is offered refreshments in the lobby lol.
Also would like to acknowledge the mail room hours. 8:30-5:30pm. Good thing I work from home because my boyfriend works from 7:30am-7pm in office and is never home in time to get his mail.
Only good thing about this place was the maintenance staff and doormen (and woman). They were great and always so nice. Overall though, this place sucks. Also, you will be paying a ton in utilities (way higher...
Read moredo yourself a favor - live anywhere else. the "good reviews" are a hoax. quite literally the worst 14+ months i've spent in a rental building. i have never experienced such horrible service in a decade of living in rental buildings. not to mention, emergency water shut offs, gas shut offs (2 MONTHS), AC shut offs (3+ weeks in a HEAT WAVE) , SEPARATE from all of that - had to stay in a hotel since we had not a single utility for 24 hours - ALL WITH ZERO NOTICE. it's as if no one works here. they never provide a timeline for when things will be fixed and if they do it's a lie and have never been abided by. hallways, elevators + gym 1000 degrees at all times. even in winter. people have to leave the gym between sets to get some reprieve. if you open a service request they will just close it without addressing or showing up. you have to repeatedly ask them to show up. pest problem. elevators never work. there are 4 + a freight and it takes forever to get one. valet and doormen have lost 6 of my packages. that doesn't include the ones they gave to other apts (who thankfully returned them). still out money for lost packages. doormen couldnt be more lazy never patrolling always have their head in phones. it's really concerning. they also know nothing and are not helpful that includes mgmt. mgmt provided wrong information and mislead renters and forced them to sign a lease under duress. you will never get a response from mgmt. baffling that they fall under the lux building umbrella. renovated lobby which looks hideous before fixing gym equipment (that has been broken for 7 + mos) that they force you to pay additional for. the block is a mess and the duane reade next door is...
