ACCES-VR Queens District Office — Local services in New York

My son participated in the Acces-VR program for 16 months. I was led to believe that after he completed all of the assigned job skill assessments and job coaching that they would then send him on interviews for a full time job. After 16 months, dozens of phone calls and e-mail messages, I learned that they have no connections with companies ready and willing to hire young men and women on the Autism spectrum. In fact, they told me that I would have to help my son apply for jobs and to let them know if he was called in for any interviews. What a waste of a year and a half. I can only imagine how much money this place gets from our State tax dollars while operating completely under false pretenses. They ought to be ashamed...

Access Vr promised me a scholarship and advised me not to apply to student financial aid. Fast forward a year later after enrolling taking the classes and going through their program they have put me in debt and I cannot go back to the school I was at because they never paid and I would of qualified for financial aid but now that I took the classes I can’t back date the financial aid. Horrible accountability and never signs me up for CUNY coursework, yet I got admitted into Hunter and a former Access VR worker attending Hunter did me a disgrace by ensuring my case was closed and files dropped. Since last year and this year early February. Now Brooklyn location is doing very little with horrible communication trying to illegally drop my education AGAIN.
