Dr. Save and his team are exceptional and Dr. Save is possibly the most patient person, let alone physician, I’ve ever met. I was referred to Dr. Save for persistent pain in my right elbow that had progressed to acute, painful clicking. He was very careful to evaluate all possible causes of my symptoms and to understand my activity goals and the way my symptoms were impacting me. Since there was not one obvious treatment plan for me, he also patiently waited and continued to explore the issue until I felt confident in the way I wanted to proceed. He even sent me for a second opinion to give me an opportunity to talk about the injury with other professionals, which I thought was so interesting because it could have resulted in his losing a patient.
We ultimately decided on surgery and Dr. Save operated for 4 hours removing a ton of small pieces of bone that were stuck in the elbow. He also made a few decisions in surgery based on my athletic goals which he was able to do because of his careful understanding of me as a patient in addition to the specifics of my injury. The incisions are crazy impressive - several of them, you can’t see at all. I am now 3 months post op and my elbow is 100%! I have full range of motion, no pain, and full function. The results were better than expected given the nature of my injury.
Dr. Save’s office is also amazing. His NP Nina is the best and I genuinely look forward to seeing her at every visit. His whole team has taken such good care of me - every time I go it feels like a 5-star spa. I wish I could come back without needing another surgery!!
One other note: I noticed a prior review suggesting that Dr. Save didn’t take a female patient’s injuries seriously because she was a female. That was not my experience at all. I am a female, high-level athlete and felt Dr. Save approached my injuries with utmost professionalism and respect. I would highly recommend him and his team to anyone, including...
Read moreI saw Dr. Save to get a second opinion on an issue with my wrist. It's fine that he has his opinion of why this wrist is in so much pain.
I had issues with my other wrist in the past that interfered with my ability to work and had surgery on it (performed by a different physician), which has given me some relief even though I don't have all of my strength back. My issue with Dr. Save was that he completely invalidated my personal experience from that surgery and told me that the previous surgery wasn't necessary and wouldn't have given me pain relief. He didn't perform the surgery and he didn't personally experience the pain I had before and after the surgery, so I don't think it's his place to make such flippant and arrogant remarks. He used the word "microscopic" several times and asked if my issue was ever visible with my eyes (it wasn't). So, according to Dr. Save, if you can't see it, it means it's not real or can't possibly be causing you pain.* Just because something is "microscopic" doesn't mean it isn't having a noticeably negative effect on someone's well-being and is deserving of being addressed.
When I asked about when to schedule a follow-up visit, I was told that a follow-up wasn't needed. That indicates two things: 1) Dr. Save's hubris and overconfidence makes him believe that he's always right and/or 2) I'm a "complicated" patient and he doesn't want to see me again (if it's 2, the feeling is mutual).
In retrospect, I should have taken a man with me to my appointment because I doubt Dr. Save would have made such unprofessional remarks or implied that I was malingering if that were the case. I would urge women to avoid Dr. Save to spare themselves unnecessary medical gaslighting.
I have a medical condition caused by a genetic mutation - but because I can't see my second chromosome in all of the cells of my body with my eyes, I guess that condition isn't...
Read moreHallelujah! After yesterday's double procedure for a long standing trigger finger that was ruining my life in general and a painful escalation of carpal tunnel symptoms that was ruining my sleep and leaving me dysfunctional in the daytime (both in the same hand!), Dr Save did save me. I experienced a good deal of relief almost immediately; the post procedural aftermath was a mere inconvenience, and the normal small amount of swelling and discomfort was a lot more bearable than what I had been going through. We had tried some cortisone shots (for the trigger finger) which offered only a little relief for me, so this outpatient intervention was the one I eventually chose. Unfortunately, one has to wait 6-8 weeks after injection before more shots (I had two) or surgical procedures can be performed, so the additional wait was frustrating, although taking them really helped me decide in the end and built my confidence that this was the right decision! Of course, each patient's conditions will be different. For example, during the time I was getting the shots, I was also diagnosed by a different physician with carpal tunnel syndrome (CPS) in the same hand, so differentiating the symptoms was at first a source of confusion for me. Dr Save's kind, straightforward manner, his patience with my initial resistance and need for explanations about the likely consequences (nerve damage) of further delay on dealing with the CPS. Thankfully, because of his excellent skills and training, he was able to offer my a surgical twofer and fix both at the same time. All I can say is...
