I have lived in NYC for three years now and about a year and a half ago I found the best hair salon. Aza Hair Salon has consistently given me the best haircuts Iāve ever had. Every time I walk into the shop, I feel welcomed and comfortable. I have had haircuts from multiple stylists there and have always been pleased. They are accommodating to my particular nature and are patient as I try to explain what it is Iād like my hair to look like. I have always left satisfied. And the one time I wasnāt (only because I was being very particular) I came into the salon and they were happy to give me what I was looking for.
Aza has cut my hair multiple times and I am always satisfied. Aza is great for conversation, and also great for silence. He is always aware of how I am doing and what I think and will make suggestions to help me find what Iām looking for. Iāve come in and asked for some drastic changes to my hair. He always double and triple checks before and he always starts by cutting less, to make sure I really am wanting the big change.
You can tell everyone who comes in there are repeat, loyal customers, because they know the quality and love the salon puts into their work.
I canāt think of anywhere else Iād like to get my haircut. Deeply grateful for how Aza and his team...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreInexperienced young guy tried to cut my hair whose hands were shaking that freaked me out. Also, he simply divided the hair into 4 parts, piled it up and just cut it. Then he wanted to work more on it, it did not look as I explained. I was not given any pictures to show, but they gave it later, when the hair was already cut. Although he tried to do his best, but it did not work out. I had to wait for another stylist to take it over and fix the hair cut. He tried to do his best, but it was not exactly what I wanted. I left with a very short hair. I think they need to communicate well with the clients and make sure that they have understood what they want. They should not be treated based on their looks, language that they speak for country of origin. When I requested for a specific style, hair stylist with a specific language speaker or process, I got these comments and these comments did not make me to feel good about the salon: -"your face is round and I am trying to choose a style for you" -"texturizing the hair is a remittance of Soviet stylists, it should be prohibited" -"she needs your language" or something like that. I can't remember exactly, but was so offensive. (when I asked for a specific language speaker)
I hope the salon owner will take care of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI rarely if ever write bad reviews. This might even be my first one. But the haircut I received here left me in tears when I got home. I asked the hairstylist for two things: a trim (about 3-4 in), some layering and to shape my hair in a u/moon. To trim my hair, he went around me in circles, cutting tiny sections. He never pinned my hair up to layer it (which all my previous hairstylists had done) and to top it all off his hands were shaking throughout. I gave him the benefit of the doubt until he made me stand so he could āgive my hair a shapeā. Shouldnāt even a rookie hairstylist be able to do that while youāre sitting down?? After he was done, I saw that my hair was cut completely blunt with no texture whatsoever. When I expressed my frustration, he (and another stylist Olga I believe) tried to remedy it to no avail. My roommate took a picture of my hair when I got back: thereās hardly any shape, my hair was crooked and there was little to no layering. Iām now writing this in another salon getting it fixed.
**2nd salon saw the problem immediately. So it wasnāt like I was seeing things or making mountains...
