First I want to say that I tried another technician in may of 2020 and had a really bad experience. Businesses in Manhattan were still closed and in haste I went to Long Island. The color was bad, the couple âhair strokesâ were blurred and dark- nearly black, the rest of the color nearly all but faded. (Which was a blessing!) I was told it was my fault. That my skin was âtoo oilyâ though I really do not have overly oily skin. I was told I bled a lot, and that too was my fault and the bleeding must have âpushed the ink out.â I was discouraged and just thought âIâm not a candidate for microblading.â Several months later after doing more research to find a true professional in the field. I found Kendra. I wanted to try one more time. She called me immediately, we spoke, I sent pictures and was sitting in her chair about a week later. It turned out I AM A CANDIDATE for microblading. Iâm just not a candidate for bad work! The difference is UNREAL. Kendra took her time and made sure I was happy with the shape, fullness, and color. My skin held the ink beautifully. No problems at all. I got powder brows with some hair strokes, and I couldnât be happier. They are perfect and natural. It may not seem like a big thing, but to be able to skip the eyebrow portion of my make up routine is wonderful. To wake up with eyebrows is wonderful. Iâm looking forward to swimming without worrying about my eyebrows coming off. I love them. As a nurse I am in a mask my entire work day, so i like to have my eyes look nice. Iâm only sorry I didnât go to Kendra first. I strongly advise anyone who is thinking about doing it or on the fence, make the appointment with Kendra. Sheâs a true artist in her field (one of the few licensed permanent make up artists) and a really...
Read moreMy first thought about Kendraâs space: âWow, itâs so clean, you could eat off the floor.â My first thought about Kendra: âWow, this woman really knows her stuff.â Kendra took the time to explain the process from beginning to end, answering all my questions and allaying any fears I may have had about microblading. (After all, it is permanent - and it is on your face - so of course itâs natural to be a little nervous.)
More important than talking, Kendra LISTENED. She asked a lot of good questions about my lifestyle and what I was looking for. After walking me through exactly what the process entailed, Kendra then took a lot of time coming up with a design that worked aesthetically for both of us, and drew on my eyebrows. I trusted her judgment as this is what she does for a living, but I have to say it was truly a collaborative process.
Once we agreed on a design, the moment of truth: microblading. I have tattoos so it wasnât quite as painful as I feared. I would say that part lasted about 35-40 minutes. She would stop every little while and give me a chance to weigh in and suggest tweaks. Then it was over ⌠and I feel like I have a new face.
I know what youâre thinking: Theyâre only eyebrows. But when they are this gorgeous, somehow your face feels like it has a fresh new look (and itâs cheaper than plastic surgery!). You have to be incredibly careful who you go to for this type of service. Sure there are cheaper options, but did I mention this is on your faceâand itâs permanent? You get what you pay for, and Kendra is 100% worth every penny. Iâm here to spread the gospelâŚthe gospel of Kendra and Better Brows NYC! I would give her six stars if...
Read moreThis is one of the best aesthetic decisions Iâve ever made in my life. I had a thorough consult with Kendra beforehand - I really wanted to do my brows but I was nervous, having seen some REALLY bad brows around the city. I felt like she completely got what I was asking for and gave me good overview of what was going to happen, and set expectations. As soon as I laid eyes on her I knew she understood what I wanted, because her brows look perfectly natural and amazing.
The procedure itself was not even as dramatic or uncomfortable as having a body tattoo. She applied numbing cream a few times and I found it really tolerable. She made me very prepared for the healing process, which was not a big deal at all. Just some redness the first day, and a tiny bit of flakiness over the next week. My brows were very dark the first week, but they also looked great so I didnât mind. Over the next month they changed a bit through the healing process. But never at any point did they look bad or was I self-conscious about them.
Now itâs been six weeks, I just had my touchup. I almost didnât even really need a touchup, but I thought it would be fun to go a little darker (they faded some, but still looked very defined and flattering). They look even better now, and I am singing her praises from the rooftops.
I canât tell you how great it is not to deal with brows anymore, to have them look great even when Iâm swimming or have just woken up. And they look better than they ever did when I was making them up. I couldnât be happier, and am already booked to go back and get my lash line done.
Sheâs a true professional and if youâre contemplating doing your brows,...
