This studio is the ultimate place of warmth, learning and community. I've been practicing yoga for several years - Kacper was one of my first teachers when he used to teach at a yoga studio in Brooklyn which sadly closed in the pandemic, and that's how I found out about the studio he co-founded with his partner Kris.
I came here hoping to find a deeper practice and a sense of community I lost when my old studio closed. I found that and so much more: a place that is welcoming, warm, full of friendly faces, people always open to chatting more about yoga, hugely talented teachers who practice a wide variety of types of yoga, and are always willing to go the extra mile to help me really understand my body and how to improve over time. The schedule is full and gives me a chance to go either in the morning before work, on my lunch break, or after work. The space is very beautiful and calming, with a chill area to relax after class, and a massage studio where Kacper (who is a licensed massage therapist) and others offer massages specifically tailored to your needs.
What I love most about the studio is that although classes are accessible to yogis of all levels (I have brought friends who are complete novices), all teachers offer the chance to go much deeper in my practice, and I have learnt so many new poses I had no idea I could do since I began practicing here. I can't recommend the studio enough, visit once and you'll want to come...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCenter Yoga has become like my home away from home. I typically practice 1-2x per week at the space and have noticed such a shift in my overall calmness and strength of body and mind. Center Yoga offers a range of class types all of which provide variations and adjustments for your level and emphasize the importance of holding poses within your personal limits. You will learn the power of breath work for deepening poses, as well as, yogas ability to help your body have less pain and ultimately be a better version of yourself out in the chaotic world.
Additionally, I have worked with Kacper for massage treatments to work through pain brought on by my digital work lifestyle. He is incredibly knowledgable about the body and offers advice and stretches that show results.
There is such a sense of warmth and devotion in the Center Yoga community. I couldnāt be more thankful for this space and the wonderful group of people that inhabit it. Highly recommend trying for a few weeks and assessing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne of the rare non-heated studios on Manhattan island. As someone who was a member of Pure Yoga West (R.I.P) for almost a decade, overall I'm a fan of this studio. 6 train spits you out right there. Shahar a.k.a. Shu Shu is a great teacher, always positively framing, never scolding, and her class is novel and challenging. She doesn't use incense, which I love because it can be hard to breathe with incense especially if you are allergic like me. Please note, there was no dog in the room for her class but I did find many dog hairs on my yoga mat, though I'm not allergic to dogs (cats make me sneeze like crazy) some people might be. But, I haven't found another studio with quality instruction like this one, that isn't heated. Edit: I also like that this studio offers adjustments to those who want them, and music so far from two instructors has been instrumental/ambient without words which I love. And live plants. Additionally Gabriella's class is quite...
