I've been coming here since they first opened earlier this year. I originally used to shop at their sister store in brooklyn, but as a queens local, this was without a doubt a welcome addition to the neighborhood and made getting my weekly pulls a ton easier.
we have a good amount of great comic shops in queens and the astoria-adjacent areas, but what makes this location stand out is their stellar team. it's the same team from the brooklyn location, so i've had a fair amount of time to get to know them and they really are the difference makers. not only are they incredibly kind and welcoming, but they have a wonderful knack for being able to size you up on first glance. that's not to say that they judge whoever comes into the store, but rather they're so knowledgeable about the comics world that with literally one reference point they can pinpoint what other series or books will work for you. they know me by now, but I'm in the store enough to see them with other customers. I've seen people come in (some parents, some just buying for a friend) and with the quickest interaction the team can offer up a recommendation; there's always something there for you.
this is all well and good for the comic agnostics, but what about the weekly readers? sure they'll keep track of your books. sure they'll add and remove new series for you (including ordering specific covers and variants). what stands out for me though is how well they enrich my reading experience. they've never tried to upsell me, but they always have a, "hey, I know you're reading this, you might like this too?" or "what are you thinking of this series? maybe you'd like this instead." I've literally had them tell me to drop a book, not because they don't my money or something, but because Dimitrios and team have the mindset that it's better to have you reading something you want and happy doing so than try to push something onto you that you won't enjoy. That's kind of the big thing for me, aside from the awesome "comic shop talk" that I enjoy, but knowing that they're looking out for my best interest and not just trying to make a sale. I can't recommend this store enough. The team is one of kind. I need to further stress this, even with the bountiful other book stores in queens, I still traveled all the way to brooklyn for my books regularly for years before this opened. that's how strongly I feel about them.
so anyway, come check out the store, you...

(enjoyed reading them on the flight home) Also, they got a selection of europian comics which I had never expected to find in NY!

Read moreGreat and varied selection of mainstream and indie books and an excellently curated manga section. Staff member Tybalt was helpful, friendly, funny, and made some great recommendations -knew their stuff front to back and more than well enough to point towards the gems across genres, from the $2 bin to the displays. Speaking of the $2 bin- don't pass it by! Plenty of treasures in there, so definitely worth thumbing through.
All in all, an easy place to spend a few hours (and a few...
