New York's Most Disappointing Omakase 😅 Come In to Avoid the Pitfall

I was so beyond disappointed with my experience. My friend and I both got the chicken ramen, and were offered both water and tea before our order was taken. They never brought out the barley tea, and we got asked a second time rashly if we were ready to order after having had ordered. Clearly no coordination between the staff and lack of care when it comes to service in general. They forget to put in an order for a thai iced tea and then apologized and tried to make small talk about the matcha tiramisu to ensure a decent tip. The service was one thing but the food itself was a whole other tragedy. The chicken was all bone and tasted unlike any other chicken I have ever had. Absolutely horrendous, I was truly skeptical if I was even served chicken. The egg was clearly old, and the only thing carrying was the broth. The thai iced tea was really good and the tiramisu was decent, it tasted like cream more than anything and was lacking matcha. Both my friend and I had horrible stomach pain throughout the night after that experience and I have never wanted to get rid of something I had eaten as badly as I did last night. I would never come back here again and honestly would have rather paid the same amount of money at any other establishment.

Great little spot in Long Island city for Ramen. I’ve come here multiple times and every single time the service is really good. I appreciate it when people take the time to make your experience feel personal. The first time our waiter took a lot of time to explain the menu, which made it easy to order a time from there on out. They have black garlic as a featured ingredient on their menu that you can add to all your Ramen if you want to kick it up a notch! I highly recommend doing that because it adds a unique flavor. That’ll make this Ramen seem different, and might make for a fun & interesting Ramen night, if you’re into trying new things. I also really like the way they maximize the use of the space by making these really cute honeycomb vertical cubbies that you can sit in. I think they’re super cozy and again adds an element to the experience that you don’t get in a lot of other places because you’re not sitting up high like that. we’ve tried several different Ramen and they were all tasty and we got a couple desserts, which were also very good. â—ĄÌˆ I tried an Apple flavored sake that was way too sweet for me though, it tasted like a green jolly rancher! Not for me! >_<

I am still hesitant as I write this review because I loved coming to this specific location but after a horrible experience that occurred last night, I doubt I will be going back.

We were a party of 5 that arrived at around 10 pm, knowing that the place closed in an hour we anticipated being told or reminded of this, no such fact was ever mentioned to us throughout our dinner. Upon arrival a female host/waitress laughed at us walking through the doors with a frustrated look on her face. She asked us our party size as she looked confused but asked us to choose between two different table locations. After being seated, she went to talk to her coworkers in the kitchen and they too laughed along with her as they stared at our direction. Throughout our meal, she kept walking back and forth while continuing to laugh and stare at us. It was uncomfortable but we made the best of our time while being conscious of the closing time - which once again was never brought to our attention. The other two waiters/servers were attentive and professional to an extent. Our patience ran thin when she passed by us again as we were finishing up our dessert and she stopped to laughed at us. At this point, we asked her for the check sternly to leave the awkward situation and she ran to the counter hysterically laughing. My husband, livid at this point, said “now you’re real happy huh?” Which lead to her turning around and dropping to the ground unable to contain her laughter, her coworkers then began to laugh with her. One of the servers grabbed the check from her and continued the service on her behalf. At no point was there an explanation for their behavior nor an apology for what was happening. We paid for the bill and still tipped as the food was delicious but the service was disgustingly rude.

As we walked out, the staff was suddenly extremely nice but we were at our wits end. We could not believe what we had experienced. We have been coming to this location for months now and enjoyed the service time and time again but last night is still so surreal. Previous to this encounter the staff members have had the upmost respect and customer service. We thought the behavior was due to our arrival time but other parties were being seated even after we sat down and they weren’t treated the same way. What a shame to have our favorite neighboring restaurant become a place we won’t ever...

Having lived in LIC for 14 years, we’ve seen and eaten at our fair share of restaurants in our neighborhood. Good friends recommended Kyuramen (although we were suspect since it’s a franchise with over 100 locations) but we decided to check it out.

Warning signs already swirled when we were taken to the back area booths for our reservation. We had a sticky table that our server had to wipe again and two table fans blowing.

We ordered (2) Yin Yang and Combo B for our party of 4. Unfortunately the broths were lukewarm temperature and the noodles were overcooked and looked like they came from an instant noodle package. The Shouyu/tonkatsu broth lacked flavor as well. With the Combo B, the miso ramen broth was also lukewarm but more flavorful than the shouyu/tonkatsu and it came with the popcorn chicken appetizer. The popcorn chicken was probably the best tasting item of the evening but it’s definitely a Taiwanese salt and pepper seasoning instead of a Japanese karage style.

Although our server let us know that we could switch out a multitude of items, we could not switch out the lemonade and Thai iced tea drinks for two Ramunes even though the Ramune was cheaper. Very odd.

Final bill was over $100 before tip which is par for the neighborhood but we were surprised for ramen. There are cheaper and better ramen spots in LIC like Ramen Spot.

Kyuramen serves the purpose for all the local high rise residents who want “ramen” but you’re probably better off getting instant noodles and eating at home. At least the broth...
