came here to get a pair of running sneakers to wreck…by running in them. sadly they don’t make sneakers like they used to…5 years ago to be exact lol. all the footwear is above street level—separated by floors—dedicated to women’s shoes and men’s footwear. mens is on the third floor. the store is pretty clean, well, organized, and brightly lit. it’s easy to find sneakers via size on shelf. checkout can be a bit trying bc there never seems to be enough cashiers. also DSW, the company, doesn’t make things easy for their employees by making all of their sales and rewards promotions so complicated and full of fine print exceptions etc. wish they would just do away with the all the app and sales shenanigans and just guarantee ā€œbest priceā€ā€”it would speed things up bc half the reason there is a line at checkout is bc a cashier and a customer are trying to figure out some weird sales snag or apply coupons or some nonsense. my advice—if you see a large line at checkout…leave and come back…the wait isn’t worth it. again this is more about the way all DSW stores in NYC are run bc i am sure the employee wish they got more help and the sales promotions were simpler.

I came here last weekend to exchange a pair of sandals that I ordered online for a different size. The cashier told me I will be charged $50 for the free gift that came with my purchased sandals since I did not bring the free gift with me. I explained I just needed to exchange the sandals, but she said it will be processed as a return, and once the return goes through, I'm charged $50. She called in the manager to say the same thing to me. In over 10 years of being a DSW customer I've never had this experience or even heard of it. I went home and checked the free gift and it clearly says do not return / you will not be charged. I called customer service later to verify and they said I shouldn't be charged at all and there's no difference with an in-store and online return. I guess the store manager knows that some people don't read the print and try to get unsuspecting customers to pay a charge they are not supposed to pay. It was a waste of time coming to the store in the first place, but glad to see I wasn't the only one who they tried to impose a charge on. I'm pretty sure that's also illegal so I can see how this will be an issue for the store.

I went to pick up new work shoes today and found the perfect pair! I was so excited to wear them the next day. When I get home, I pull them out of the box and the security tag is still on them?!?! šŸ™„ The employee at the register was clearly not paying attention, because he opened the shoes and checked to make sure they were the same size. Next, I called the location and asked if it was possible for me to get it off at home. The employee who answered the phone said if I cut it off, the noise will not stop, but if I go to any DSW location with the receipt, they will remove it. She did not apologize for the inconvenience. CHECK YOUR SHOES BEFORE YOU LEAVE!!!! I’m going to another location to get the tag removed tomorrow and will never be coming back to this location. The 2 stars are only for the huge selection.

Left the store because the cashier Tara doesn’t know how to talk to people without being condescending. wanted to exchange a pair of boots i bought online for a size up. This was purchased with a promotion. The exchange is within the return/exchange period. I asked to make sure that this will just be an exchange right? She just said well sometimes it has to be a return and then a purchase. She then scanned my boots and finalized the refund before explaining to me that this happens when its a online purchase.

If you knew that, why not disclose it BEFORE finalizing the return?! I would’ve just went through an online exchange process to retain the price i paid for the boots. She scanned the sized up boots i wanted and it was double the price.

Now i’m trying to figure out what the best option for me to do is. She just keeps telling me i have 2x points i can use, or a $5 and $20 reward i can use. But from the DSW app, i see those same promotions plus $10 countdown promo and $15 holiday bonus discounts i can use. She doesn’t see it on her end so i provided the barcode for both promotions for her to scan. Those same promotions are working for the same boots when i added them to my cart btw. When one of them doesn’t work, she just keeps telling me its not working bc its already on sale. Stop making up bs reasons if you don’t know the answer bc the same code worked on the app for very same boot.

She’s visibly getting impatient while i’m trying to navigate the screw over she just did to me and figure out how i can get the boots as close to the price i originally paid without using the reward dollars i earned from buying the same boots. She keeps repeating that i have this $25 reward to use. I had plans on how i was going use those earned rewards and it does NOT involve repurchasing the same boots.

Going forward, do some thinking and give full disclosures to your customers before finalizing transactions that cannot be reversed. And stop talking to customers as if they have no brain. I worked at the very store she’s working at (in fact, helped physically put the store together and was a part of its grand opening years ago). So i’m very familiar with how the earned rewards and promotions works.

Tara did not provide any help or empathy for the fact that she finalized a return transaction that she knew i was trying to conduct as an even exchange without confirming first. She kept repeating the 2x points promotion and trying to get me to use my earned $25 rewards to repurchase the same boots with no consideration about what she just did. Worst DSW experience i’ve had. I’ve worked retail before (clearly as i stater, i did the grand opening + some years in the store) so i understand how it is and i’ve always treated everyone with respect and grace. Writing this extensive negative review is not something i like to do. I did my research to find these boots in store and travelled almost an hour to get to this store just to walk out after getting screwed over from her lack of empathy and lack of initiative critical thinking when i comes to...

I love this shoe warehouse it's extremely clean and organize. The employees are also very nice and helpful even when you did not ask for help but it looks like you might need it .

I mostly shopping online sometimes I shop in stores when I need something right away. If the DSW online store does not provide to many details about their products that I need to buy I will see if it's available in stores and goes there to check out the products at the shoes store local.

Because this store is very clean and organize its easier for me to shop here at leave feeling good about my shopping experience and the things I have purchased. This is extremely important for me because I would get very stressed out trying to find what I need or if DWS store was not very clean and organize....

This why I mostly do my shopping online sometimes stores are not very clean and organize environment. Sometimes this is because of mess customers. I know that this is also very stressful for the employees that work at these companies.....

Shopping out in the real world can sometime be extremely stressful for many people. It also easier to save money for me when I choose to shop on DSW'S online store.

Its always fun for me to see the shoes in person when I am shopping in Manhattan or have anything important in the area I like to visit my favorite places...

The people here were lovely however I had an issue with receiving my order. I wanted a pair of boots they didn’t have in stock at the store so an employee said I could order online and pick them up at the store as it would be faster. I took her advice and I went about three times to ask for them as it had been over a month since I placed my order. The tracking number said it was delivered to the store within less than a week but every time I went to ask for the boots, they’d tell me I needed to wait for an email and that the boots were there in the physical building but had not been processed. I never received my boots nor my money back until I reached out to customer service. They said they would reship the boots but this time directly to my home. I was very hopeful and happy but then days pass and I had not received a tracking number or email. I reached out again to inquire for them to tell me that my boots were out of stock and I’d be getting my money back. If I hadn’t reached out, I never would’ve known. It upsets me because I never received my boots despite being very patient and communication from the service team was not good at the end. I hope DSW works on this to avoid future conflicts and upset...
