Dear Management of VERSA, I am writing this review to express my utmost disappointment and frustration with the appalling experience I had at your establishment. My visit to VERSA on may 25, 2023 left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, both literally and figuratively. To begin with, the incident involving the quesadilla I ordered was utterly unacceptable. As I was halfway through my meal, I discovered a piece of plastic within the quesadilla. Concerned for my safety and assuming a responsible approach from your staff, I immediately notified the waitress. To my dismay, she attempted to convince me that the plastic was actually cheese. Only after persisting did she acknowledge the truth. This level of negligence and deceit is completely inexcusable. Following the revelation, the manager was summoned to address the situation. While he offered an apology, he assured me that I could select any item from the menu to replace my tainted meal, assuring me it would be on the house. However, when the check arrived, I was appalled to find that I had been charged for the replacement meal. This contradictory behavior only adds to the overall dissatisfaction I experienced. But the disappointment did not end there. Without any prior request or indication that my friend and I desired alcohol, a second manager approached our table and abruptly dropped two shots without providing any explanation or even disclosing the type of liquor they contained. It is simply unacceptable to assume that patrons want alcohol without asking for their preference. This lack of communication and disregard for customer choice is both unprofessional and offensive. I must emphasize that as a paying customer, I expect a certain level of professionalism, integrity, and transparency from the restaurant staff and management. Sadly, VERSA failed to meet even the most basic standards in these regards. The careless response to the plastic incident, the contradictory promise of a complimentary meal, and the presumptuous act of serving unrequested shots are clear indications of a disorganized and poorly managed establishment. It is my sincere hope that you take this feedback seriously and take immediate action to rectify the numerous issues plaguing your restaurant. As it stands, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend VERSA to anyone, and I implore you to address these concerns promptly to avoid further...
Read moreThis place is just OK, nothing to go out of your way for. I am very picky with rooftops and service so maybe my perception is not best- I can at least say that this venue can be good for various occasions. When I arrived on a Wednesday night with my coworkers, we were under the impression that the rooftop would be open to everyone on their patio side with happy hour between 3-6 pm. I was seeing versa do happyhour stories on IG a week before with really nice photos. However, upon arrival(with reservation is best), the waiter looked at me like I had 3 heads when I asked about a happyhour menu, he made it seem like it was non-existent from the past. Now I know times are tough with inflation so they need to do whatever they can to get by, but misleading ads are not cool. Anyway, I looked at their cool cocktail menu and went with their margaritas, just a classic one - and well for $18 it was dull as ever. It was more ice than lime or marg. mix, and there was barely any salt on the rim as I wanted. I also hate how they don't have classic top shelf tequilas such as jose cuervo or 1800, it seems like all they were willing to offer was casamigos or another respuedo brand that I wasn't familiar with. What kind of a place does not have jose cuervo???! MY coworker also wanted to try their long island iced tea, but apparently that was a no as well since the waiter said that drink isn't being offered from the bar anymore because no one was ordering it and they have yet to remove it off menu. In terms of atmosphere, I felt kinda duped that I had no access to rooftop bar side because there was a huge corporate party that booked the whole patio. While it looked amazing, I would have never came that night if they had forewarned this, I could not even step out for air or views. The dj and food was good, I liked the dancehall and house music and the flatbreads , fries and chips and guac was decent portions to share. I would give this place another chance if they were more clear on what they offer and what...
Read moreLackluster. Hostess was really rude - she basically sized up me and my friend when we came in and reluctantly offered us a high top table "outside" at our request. She mentioned that said tables were for people ordering food, not just for drinks and if we just wanted drinks then we needed to go to the bar. We agreed to order food and were taken to our table which wasn't outside as we requested. We kindly asked the waiter if there were tables outside we could move to and he moved us out. To our surprise, more than half of the tables outside were occupied by groups of people that were only drinking, no food. Not sure why the hostess was giving us pushback about this from the start.
We each ordered $15 cocktails that were disappointing at best. They were too sweet, small servings, and barely cold. I should mention that they were gin cocktails that were served in white wine glasses with no ice and a bruised leaf of basil.
Overall, it looked like someone invested some serious money into this place. It was a beautiful space and I imagine would be awesome if the servers and hostesses were more pleasant. It's a shame that this place will probably lose credibility from the heavy commuter crowd that I imagine is their primary demographic, aside from hotel guests. We saw a lot of people waiting around for service with empty glasses on their tables.
Lastly, the ladies room had 10 stalls in which 8 were out of toilet paper, there were empty cocktail glasses hanging around and some of the locks on the doors were broken. All of this at 10pm on a Friday night.
There were some reviews mentioning how the food and atmosphere were great but it seems like all of the negative reviews complain about the lack of, or under-par, service. This review follows suit.
The look, layout, and location of this place truly position it to capitalize on the commuter crowd as well as the heavy foot traffic of tourists in the area. They need to step it up! There are plenty of other places offering what...
