Fabrics Save-A-Thon — Local services in New York

Was happy to see them open today. Waited outside in line for nearly an hour as the store rightfully followed the social distancing guidelines. The manager was asking people the purpose of the visit and directed them to the appropriate floor and was then stating that would be their sole visit for the day. When my time came, I was fire ted to another line where I waited almost 20 minutes. Upstairs I found the products I wanted carries my own bolts of fabric while i waited in yet another line with my arms dull.of items. I asked the person. For the ribbon I needed and was told that was downstairs. Following the social distance policy i asked the same person who let me in if I could get the ribbon or if I needed to pay and reenter. I was then informed that they were "not cutting ribbon today. I asked when they would be cutting it and was told to come in on a weekday. When i stated I couldn't because I work in a hospital and my only day was today or sunday, he just walked away, then turned around and said they cut elastic and I could use that. I said yes, but for myself, I needed ribbon because my ears were raw from.the elastic. He walked away to help someone purchase a sewing machine. The time he spent near the locked door he could have cut the yard of ribbon I wanted. So now, my colleagues will gave cotton make, and I'll wear the one provided by my employer !and I'll keep.applying a skin barrier behind my ears. Been shopping here for years. How sad that this is how you treat healthcare workers. Put ribbon upstairs where the material is. Will seriously reconsider...

I have been here many times to buy materials for sewing the staff are friendly and cool folks you can laugh with so i decided to bring my sewing machine here to get clean and oil down they said $65 which I thought was a lot but I needed good professional cleaning I picked it up 2 days later and I thought it was clean but I did not have my glasses and I trusted them it would be clean. I came home and try to use it that's when I realized it was still dirty . I opened the top and saw it Was NEVER CLEANED just thick inkling of grease. I was very upset as I wanted to sew something and could not. I plan on taking it back on Monday and would give a update after. Ok I took it back and picked it up a few days later I took it home unscrewed it and it was still dirty part of the outside area was clean but still not much. I would continue going there for shopping but would go on you tube and find how to oil and clean my machine. I honestly felt for $70. Plus I should have gotten a professional cleaning other than a few dabs of grease on it I would NEVER recommend anyone to go there to get their sewing machine clean and if they do get a screw driver open...

I went to this store to look for particular yarn. The store has an amazing selection of yarn and although the location is somewhat remote it was worth the trip since i found what i was looking for and more BUT the staff, OMG i left so intimidated that i felt it was only fait to actually post a review right away, then i decided to wait bc i did not want to immediately react on the poor experience, bc the girl working on the yarn floor is so very unhelpful and with SO terrible attitude , that when i asked for a plastic bag bc i was planning to pick 30+ pcs of yarn, she was extremely difficult and unwilling to help and told me she cannot have yarn all over her register. When i finally manage to request a big plastic bag from a supervisor and get to the register to pay the girl started to count the yarn and to my suggestion while counting the yarn to put in second bag , i was told to Stop making things difficult. Very disturbing attitude from staff indeed unlike the other BK store and...
