"I cannot more highly recommend a jeweler. I approached Michael in October after receiving a very strong recommendation from a friend who had worked with Fitzgerald Jewelry (Michael) to design an engagement ring. I too was hoping to work with Michael in designing an engagement ring. I admit I might be a difficult customer for many jewelers -- I showed up knowing very little about diamonds, rings, etc., other than that I wanted something unique that had a personal touch. I am also, admittedly, an extremely thorough person. Michael happily sat down with me on a number of occasions and took the time to explain the entire process; he was very informative, trustworthy, and transparent in the cost and process of designing a ring, so much so that what might be a challenging or bold undertaking in other cases, was a creative and fun process. What struck me was that this was something he clearly enjoyed and cared about deeply. What was great about this experience is that I walked in the store knowing almost nothing about engagement rings, and Michael and his staff were able to help design a one-of-a-kind ring based on our discussions...it takes a certain skill as an artisan to be able to interpret and produce a work of art in this way. Michael and his staff were always professional, prompt at communication (even during Hurricane Sandy they kept in touch), and very patient. They were flexible and worked hard to meet my budget, evolving design, and timetable (they were able to complete the ring two weeks earlier than we'd planned based on my request). They make it clear that your business matters to them, and even more importantly, that you are happy with the jewelry that you purchase. I now have a one-of-a-kind engagement ring that I think has better quality and craftsmanship than many rings I see that likely cost a good deal more. I really wanted a grey diamond engagement ring, so my fiancé and I decided to have one made. After searching online I found Michael and really loved his style so we made an appointment. From the first moment we walked in the studio Michael was kind, funny and helpful. I brought some photos and looked at some pieces in the shop and it was such a fun collaborative process to come up with the design. Michael was so great to work with and so involved in all the details every step of the way. George who did the computer rendering of the design is also super talented and responsive. When I say the finished product is gorgeous I don't think that does it justice. It's really a work of art and it's so special to have something one of a kind that my fiancé and I both had a hand in creating. My husband worked with the Fitzgerald team to design my engagement ring & wedding band. He enjoyed the design process and they did a stellar job. The Pinterest board I provided as inspiration was bonkers and had no real theme to it. Somehow, they came up with this beauty that was beyond my (all over the place) expectations.
