I have framed artworks with multiple framers in New York, St. Louis, Los Angeles, London and Hong Kong over the past 40 years. Each time, I research the framer, examine the studio, ask questions about the conservation methods used, etc. Of all framers I have ever used, GK is unquestionably the finest. Most of my artworks are works on paper, and GK does everything I could ever ask to preserve and beautifully present them: hinging works with handmade rice-paper hinges, using all acid-free materials, framing works in a dust-free room so no dust ever gets included inside the frame, backing each frame not with paper lining (that usually rips) but with a sturdy non-acidic sheet that can be easily removed - and then replaced - if you ever need access to the artwork, using museum glass/plexi, offering me a wide selection of frames from which to choose, offering me bespoke solutions (e.g., GK has custom made for me a frame that looks like a triptych with wings/doors that close so that the Durer print it is protecting only encounters light when someone specifically seeks to view it), etc. Elizabeth and her team are incredibly creative, and are always willing to think projects through with me to ensure that the solution being proposed meets all of my objectives. Lastly, Elizabeth's frames are some of the most attractive I've ever used. Gold or silver leafed frames can be found in all styles, as can simple, stained wood frames. In the highly unlikely case that you do not find a frame you like, GK can custom design a new frame for you. Whether you are working with modern art or Old Masters, GK has solutions for you. I believe the frames GK has provided me have enhanced the appearance and the value of my art, and I am often complemented on the beautiful frames in which my art is displayed. Re pricing -- GK's prices are not low, nevertheless, I have framed no fewer than 50 works with Elizabeth over the years. I go to sleep knowing that each work she frames is preserved beautifully not only for me but for those who may own the work 75 years from now. She and her team are artists and they know what they are doing. I would trust no other framer to handle my most valuable art. I can promise you that you will be thrilled with any framing job completed by GK (you might not be thrilled at the cost, but GK's workmanship and perfection of craft sets the bar). It is for this reason, I know of multiple galleries and museums in New York, and elsewhere, that turn to GK for framing some of their most...
Read moreI've been so lucky to work with GK Framing and their highly skilled team for more than 20 years. Their work has been uniformly exquisite: I recommend them highly and without hesitation.
Some might think Elizabeth is in the framing business, or the electronics business through her amazing Reflectel product. The truth for me is that Elizabeth is in the trust business. I trust her with some possessions that are invaluable to me. I trust her passion and her elegant eye to reveal the inner beauty of any piece she is handling. I trust her caring and concern to deliver my piece back to me safely and yet revealed in some new way because of the new home and surrounding she so artfully crafts for everything she does. She is also an extraordinary listener so she won't let her vision (however brilliant) overrun yours. Working with GK is a treasure and a gift! Work with the GK team and you can confidently trust them to deliver extraordinary results that you will love!! I think they are the very best whether you have a seven (or eight) figure auction piece, or a family treasure that is priceless to you. The GK team is comprised of caring artisans and craftspeople whose work will...
