Normally I don’t write reviews but this had to be done. Do not go to this store and do NOT give these people your money. I wouldn’t be surprised if these reviews are paid/fake. The service was disgusting and I’m surprised they’re still in business if this is how they treat customers. Me and my friends went for a prom dress on Saturday and the woman working there told us to make an appointment we understood and made one for Tuesday. When we came in the first older woman was a bit hesitant to accommodate us and didn’t even seem to know if we had an appointment or not? We showed her the confirmed appointment we made on their website and she said it was okay for us to try on dresses. She said we can only try three which was also weird because some people here are saying five was what they were told but still we complied. Then another younger woman wearing glasses comes in and whispers to the older woman and the older woman says we can’t try on dresses because we need an adult? All three of us are 18 so we informed them we are adults by law and don’t need one. They still said we needed a parent and I was shocked because nowhere on their website did they mention this and the woman who was there on Saturday didn’t mention this either. When I explained this to her she said “fine you can try on dresses since your being pushy but we need to see ID” I was appalled. Getting ID’d for a dress store was just laughable. I don’t have a drivers license but I told her I could show her proof of age but she was putting her foot down. I 100% believe this was discrimination because these rules were not stated before and randomly appeared out of nowhere. I told her she needs to update her website with these rules so my friends and I did not have to waste our time coming all the way to midtown just to be refused service for something we were not previously told. I left the store very disappointed but found a dress ant another Italian dress store near by which had better dresses at better prices from known brands like Jovani. Came here on a Friday afternoon to try on bridal dresses for 30 minutes and had a great experience. I arrived early so I had time to browse before Sid greeted me and it was clear he knew I was coming in for my bridal appointment. He patiently took down all the dresses I wanted to try and even recommended some – his recommendations ended up being my favorites. I tried on at least 5 dresses, most of them in my size (0). My tip is to come prepared knowing what you want so you have more time in the dresses.

Some other reviewers mentioned disliking the experience of trying on a dress here but I recommend you come in with appropriate expectations. The space to try on a dress is a large space enclosed with curtains with a mirror inside if you don't want to use the mirror in the store, and it has a clothing rack and chair for your things. Sid and staff is there to help you zip up and help with whatever you need – they tell you they are there for you if you want which just means you need to let them know if you want more assistance from them. I didn't require much assistance which allowed Sid to help other customers, but he still always came back after a few minutes to check on me and see if I needed anything - then I asked Sid to help me take some photos and videos which I am so grateful for. Had an outstanding experience at Lara NY! I saw the shop while in Times Square, looked up the online store, saw an amazing dress on sale, ordered it, then made an appointment for a dress fitting for a fancy party I'm attending AND to try on and pick up the dress I ordered. The experience was amazing. Everything I tried on? Gorgeous. I could have spent as much as $2k in there, the party and gala dresses were so beautiful and well-made. I found the perfect dress for a party I'm attending on Friday and the dress I ordered online fit like an absolute dream and is adorable. I'm a plus-sized woman, so the fact that they had size 14s and 16s IN HOUSE for me to TRY ON was amazing. Turns out, at Lara, I'm a 14! (I'm so thrilled.)
