Unsafe. You start out in an ok line that is way out in the park. Then once closer you get hearded into a baracaded section. Constantly told to pack it in. Security is silly. I am going to look at a statue not fly on a plane. While boarding.. they continue to tell everyone to move forward tightly. Everyone being tired of waiting.. they start pushing. Now imagine you have to navigate onto a ramp that is severely inclined and you can't see it. Somehow you have to keep yourself from being pushed down while holding a child. The ferry is old and tired. Nice paint job and heat, but the info system no longer works. They use a ramp that is pulled in/out the boat.
We waited 3 hours in line and was made worse by all this plus the bitter gale winds. Spend 20min to walk around the statue take some pictures and get back into line. To wait another 1.5 hours to get back. Luckily it took so long for all this that we went straight back to NY, instead of side track to elis island. Not worth the trip. I am not a cow. More boats and make this ran...
Read moreAn extravagant price and a bit inconvenient for a day-to-day trip between Manhattan and Jersey City (which is why I've done the PATH 99% of the time), but I ended up doing this with someone else visiting the city on the whim and found it to be a fun experience. Not something I'd ever do if I was pressed for time but it's a relatively small price difference for the change to actually look at the Hudson for a change instead of averting your eyes as you stare at your phone. Not great for every use case, but definitely something to check out next time you are in a...
Read moreLiberty Landing was on time for my Friday morning trip to Liberty State Park and boarded passengers quickly and efficiently. I paid in cash on board. Make sure you arrive early as the ferry is only once an hour! Note that the ferry landing doesn't have the best signage, i had to ask others in the line if I was in the right place.
The ferry was fast, organized, and a beautiful way to see the city from the water. Boat was a little old, but the trip was so short, you...
