The Tanning Spot NYC — Local services in New York

I am disgusted. I have come here quite a few times for the UV tanning booth. I go in today (about an hour ago), and the girl at the desk asks for my last name. I get all checked in and realize there were none of the protective eye patches left. I was sad about that but she told me I would be “fine” if I just closed my eyes. Since I already signed in, I just decided to do it. I go in the booth (door still wide open), and a man comes in. He’s obviously a regular. He asks if there were any eye patches, and I look out and she’s grabbing an extra pair underneath the desk. He literally asked “Do you just save extra ones down there?” I look out and she sees me and pretends she didn’t know and says “Oh I just found some.” Bro. I go back in, but the man was kind enough to lend me the pair she gave him. Because guess what!! She had another pair to give him. She tried saying goodbye to me all nicely. I just walked out and didn’t say anything or look at her. So moral of the story, if they say they’re out of the eye patches, they...

Loved this place while it lasted, but the cancellation process was a mess. I emailed ahead of my renewal date to cancel my membership because I was planning to leave the city for a while. They acknowledged my request and said it wouldn't be a problem -- but I still got charged on the renewal date.

That was frustrating, but I figured it could be resolved with a refund. The owner responded and said they'd issue one, but after that... nothing. It's been over a month with no follow-up or action, despite multiple attempts to follow up.

August Update: I still haven't received my refund to this very moment.

November Update: Got charged...

This is my new favorite place to spray tan! I first found out about them on Groupon and ever since I haven't looked back. The prices are very reasonable, and I like that they have the VersaSpa Pro booths since some places have outdated sunless tanning booths. My tan always comes out even and looking natural, like I just left the beach. The receptionist is also very nice and helpful. Definitely recommend the Tanning Spot over other tanning places in the city, because the experience I've gotten here has been so much nicer. Can't wait to get my next...
