Maison Jar — Local services in New York

It’s a nice idea, but not executed in a way that makes sense, and thus defeats the point of buying in bulk. I’ve been buying things in bulk all over the City forever, and literally thee point is not just reducing packaging, but that buying in bulk is more AFFORDABLE. EVERYTHING in this shop is MORE expensive than if you buy it pre packaged, and wayyyy more expensive than any other store anywhere in the city for bulk. I bought something here in bulk that cost $4 that is literally max .75 cents EVERYWHERE else. So if you’re shopping in bulk to help with reducing waste AND the whole point of getting things at non packaged prices - don’t bother shopping here. It’s a shop for being trendy, not for actually keeping with the ethos of bulk shopping. And buy the way, I buy loose bulk stuff organic and at independent shops through out the City, so this isn’t someone who shops at some bulk version of Costco. I have been coming here for over 2 years. Recently there is a new employee that few times acted in unprofessional manner.

Touching inside my bag and staring inside, staring at me (woman) whenever I come in. he said when i communicated i am not comfortable when you place your hand inside my bag, (( I can open it for you, as I have before opened it ))

despite me saying whats inside the bag, he said aggressively “I will do it, and thats the end of it..” (The end of it, i dont care about the business I am insecure and I will do it )

I left, because that was unprofessional attitude.

I called the manger, she said well dont come in when he is here or dont come at all.

She is aware she hired someone unprofessional. And she didn’t care about her long time customer experience.

I also noticed one blonde girl that works there who preforms witchcraft in the shop, the blind will...

Easily my go to store when it comes to the vast majority of the things I buy at this point in my life and not just food items.

Their snacks, dried goods, nuts/seeds, pastas and so much more provides such a great selection and along with items such as tofu, various frozen fruits, condiments, sauces, cooking and baking items.

Their nonfood items are also amazing. All the cleaning, bathroom and shower products is what I use from now on as well.

I am so grateful for this store and even besides having great products there is so much value here and the staff is very friendly and happy to assist in any way.
