I had a terrible experience with Modern State’s customer service. Their messaging around returns and exchanges is incredibly misleading. My receipt clearly stated I could return my purchase, but when I went back the very next day, I was told I couldn’t return holiday items because of a small sign on the counter. This policy was not mentioned at checkout or made clear at all.
When I tried to explain my situation, the staff was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful. They showed no consideration for the fact that their policies were confusing and contradictory. I would not recommend shopping here if you expect clear communication or decent...

The candles were on the lowest rack of the aisle, so I was on my knees looking when one of the store clerks reprimanded me saying “Don’t kneel like that, ma’am, we sometimes have strollers passing down the aisles.” Her tone was so off-putting and aggressive that I was kind of at a loss for words. This was 4:00 pm on a Tuesday, and I was the only customer in the store. Also, as a mom myself, if there had been a stroller, I would have immediately popped up to my feet. Read moreAt the last minute I thought to get balloons for my nephews birthday and I just so happen to arrive, a minute before closing. As they were locking up, Chris was so kind to let me still grab the balloon I needed. I really appreciated them allowing me this small kind gesture, which I know is going to make my nephew so happy. I also appreciate that they were understanding, It’s very heartwarming to know businesses and people still care about others.
I will have to return at an earlier time, and I plan to bring my nephew so he can explore the many wonderfully...
