I used to manage a small produce department and in my opinion this is an excellent greengrocer. Quality is very high and price still quite reasonable. If you compare an identical selection here to a chain grocery (ctown, foodtown, stop n shop etc etc) it will COMPLETELY outclass it in quality and be the same or cheaper in price. In my experience you'd have to go to a higher end organic store to find a quality match and then you'd probably pay more. Very clean, good selection, and you'd be hard pressed to find any old, bruised etc. produce mixed in. They don't have organic options for every single item, but do have them for the majority of staples (it's not a big store and it is hard to stock and turn over organic options for more niche items without a lot of wastage unless you are one of the big shops, if you specifically need organic kohlrabi or shishito peppers you have to go to wholefoods). The non-produce selection is on the smaller side, but they have basic staples covered and you can go to a chain store for your chocolate marshmallow cereal and uncle vinny's pizza rolls and all that. Really friendly, great staff. Take card without a fuss. In terms of freshness and quality of fruit/veg, this is easily the best in Greenpoint... take this from someone who trawls every store for bargains on the Manhattan strip daily!

Prices aren't as always as good as Mr Plum or Mr Berry for everything (but then, it's fresher), and there's a few things where prices are a so out of whack it confuses me, but overall it's good value and there is rarely a bad looking fruit or piece of veg in the place.

Lots of varieties of some things (3x types of eggplant!), as well as a lot of Japanese and Korean ingredients at the back. The loose tofu in the fridge section is SO good - cheap, tasty, and firm.

Dairy section is a bit average for Greenpoint considering how good other grocers can be for that - not much good cheese. But the produce is as good as that grocer in Seinfeld that Kramer loves.

Nice selection of fresh vegetables, fruits and other grocery items, at a reasonable price - and with better quality than much of the competition in the area. You won't necessarily find that many products that are specifically labeled as organic, but it's a clean, well-maintained and well-stocked place, with a friendly & helpful staff.
