While in NYC on vacation, I thought I would look for a suit for my son's wedding. We found New Era online and decided to find the store and check it out. Wow! Our expectations were vastly exceeded. The husband and wife owners were terrific. They were engaging, friendly, and extremely helpful. Robert could tell me my size just by looking at my build. They brought out several options for me to consider. They spent time with my wife and I (along with our girls). I tried on the suits and made my selection. They sent me to a tailor up the street who did the alterations. The whole process was easy and enjoyable. They even discounted the suit to cover the alterations. On top of that, since we were travelling and didn't want to add a suit to our luggage on the plane, they went to the tailor, picked up my suit, and shipped the suit to us FREE! I purchased the suit on a Monday. I got home on Thursday morning after a late flight at around 1 A.M. My suit arrived Thursday afternoon. And they sent me a tie and three garment bags in the package as well!!
We never write reviews. But my wife and I wanted to give "5 Stars" to the husband and wife team at New Era. The price for the suit was amazing. The service was fabulous. And the experience was wonderful. I highly recommend to anyone that they check out this store. Don't let appearances fool you. At New Era, they sell the steak, not the sizzle. You may find a more glamorous store. You may find a more polished storefront. But you will not find better service, a better price, or a better experience that you will have at this...
Read moreI've been going to New Era for a few years now. I've purchased at least six suits there. I always enjoy walking into this cluttered space. Cluttered with purpose. The married couple owners are always friendly and interesting. They and their shop are a throwback to the days when my mother or my grandmother would drag us down to Orchard Street to shop for our Easter or Christmas or graduation or whateverI clothes. I hated shopping with them, but I loved the atmosphere on Orchard. I'm talking about the 1960s & 70s. Some of that atmosphere still exists on Orchard. New Era is definitely holding on to their's. I recently was cast to play a mortician in a low budget horror film. The budget didn't have enough to cover wardrobe for non-lead actors. I had to provide my own outfit. So, I headed down to New Era to pick up a black 100% wool suit. I was in and out of the shop in about 30 mins. It was a hot day. I asked the proprietors if they had any water. The female partner actually went down the block to buy me a bottle of water! She wouldn't take the $2 IU offered to cover the purchase. Class. They steered me to a tailor shop down the block where, in one hour, I got the suit fitted. A perfect fit. I'd recommend New Era to anybody not wanting to spend $500 bucks on a good looking, well tailored suit. Oh, by the way, I looked great the day...
Read moreIf you need a tuxedo that fits well, with all the accessories, at a very reasonable price, this is your place. Do not go anywhere else; save time and head straight to New Era. I went here for a prom tuxedo for my 6'4" son, concerned that he would be a challenge to fit, and they found the perfect suit. They also have shirts, bow ties, suspenders, cummerbunds... the whole works. My son chose a conservative, all-black style but they had plenty of colorful ones also. Tuxedo trousers come unhemmed but the owners referred us to a tailor at 136 Orchard that hems while you wait for $10 cash (which I also recommend). And they are the warmest people, asking us all kinds of questions about my son's school and activities and future plans. After we left, and while we were waiting for the hemming to be finished, the lady proprietor of New Era ran in holding the cufflinks that she had forgotten to put in our bag. Now that is some personalized service! I...
