This studio by far is the worst experience I've had dealing with any business in my life. I've never posted anything about a business in my life because I dont think its fair one incident can be a fair assessment of service but I just feel this experience was extremely unethical. I was an annual member at this facility living at the time at the UES. I had unfortunate occurrence when my friend/roommate passed and I had to move unexpectedly. So many changes happened that I didn't even think about this membership. Anyhow, when it came time to deal with it they wanted to fine me a months time and a cancellation fee of 250 dollars after explaining my situation. After some back and forth, I was able to negotiate 160 dollar fine in incremental payments considering i had not used the studio over 2 months. I am honestly disappointed since I barely got a chance to use their studios my previous month since I was so distraught and all they wanted to do is charge a cancellation fee and another month. I understand they operate a business but frankly this was by far the worst experience most businesses are understanding considering what harm or damage had I caused to their business by no longer attending. It is not like I was reaping the benefits, so much for zen or what they preach. Horrible place!! The only person that seemed like wanted to find a resolution was the person that reached out to the manager a third time to bring down the fine and even that felt so unfair but at least she tried. Horrible manager overall. You were not sympathetic because I didnt reap the benefits of the last month you are referring to as declined. What harm did I cause your business or what services did you render to me during that month are fining me for!!??
To your answer below, this is my response: While we are always sympathetic to the loss of a loved one, this was in no way related. This was definitely 100 percent related, make no mistake of it. Had this not occurred, I would still be using your facility because I would still be living in the UES and using your facility.
This member committed to an Annual Membership, froze an account for three months but continued to use our studio at a discount rate on Class Pass.
This took place way before the passing of my roommate/friend and has no relation to the cancellation. I had to travel for work and it was during the summer when I had to travel for work. I was told I was able to freeze my membership.
Once she decide to cancel, no cancelation was submitted, the card just suddenly began to decline. We always allow a member to get out of a contract early for $250.
Yes, I was dealing with my friends death.
Given the circumstances we decided to only charge the client one more month - for the last declined charge. Understand, there were owed seven more months at $170 per month ($1190).
Owed, really? I cant use your services. Dont deceive people with...
Read moreI’ve been practicing at this studio for the last 18 months. The teachers, fellow yogis, and staff are so warm and welcoming. The community and collective knowledge that exists at NYY is why I’m there almost daily now. I’ve been a yoga student for 25 years and since practicing at NYY, I’ve had so many breakthroughs and reached depths I didn’t think I was capable of. The classes are challenging but not intimidating. The teachers are really kind, patient, and find ways to reach students who need additional guidance without disrupting the progress of other students in the room. That’s not easy to do. The teachers also support and mentor each other, often taking each other’s classes. They care about each other and the community that exists in the studio. Elinor teaches the most creative, well planned, and challenging advanced power flow. Alex and Lauren’s all levels classes offer plenty of guidance to explore poses and level up or down as you need or want to. There is something for everyone at NYY. I could go on and on and encourage anyone thinking about hot yoga classes to...
Read moreAs a drop-in visiting student, I really enjoyed Ellinor's class. She has a nice class pacing and helpful cues and assists.I was happy there were lockers and showers available. I rented a mat and was surprised there were no yoga mat towels to rent to place on the mat. The yoga studio was, in my opinion, compared to my other experiences, too hot for hot vinyasa. It felt like Bikram temp and there were no fans to circulate the sweaty air. It seems like maybe they are having troubles regulating the system. Overall, I enjoyed the class and instruction, but feel that $31 is a steep price for a drop in class and that the mats and towel situation/facilities could be better for that price point. The reception area is a little cramped and messy but the people there were friendly and helpful. I'd go again if I am in the area and the schedule...
