Done with this market.....i have lived in the area approaching 3 yrs now.....i've visited this mrkt atleast 2-3 times per week.in that time i wld say i have spent close $2k slightly more...vry small place with narrow aisles ....yet they place boxes in the aisles making it challenging to move around store with a cart....stopped in a few weeks while heading home...did not deviate frm my normal routine come in wlk dwn the 4-5 stairs get cart and proceed with my shopping...i have a lower back injury frm being hit by a car some yrs ago...depending on weather and time of year ...but once i pay for my items i bring cart around and up the ramp to the exit...take out my items and leave cart...i have done this mny times no less that 75 times..nvr an issue...well this nite there was a yng hispanic employee stand mid ramp leaning on railing...she calls out 2 me sir sir to get my attention...when i acknowleged her she says i can't bring cart up the ramp...i asked her then why is it there...she replies to go dwn the ramp....i looked her in her eyes and said...the real scary part is what just came out of your mouth makes sense to u....i no llonger buy cold-cuts there because you tell the guy slliced very thin...he nods at you and cuts it the way he chooses...last nite..3/26/17 i wnt to mrkt about 9pm...i purchased my items which inluded sargento thin sliced cheese cause it was on sale for $2.99...for a year i shopped there and wld just place my itmes dwn to be rang up and simply pay the ttl and leave...one day,mid 2016...i purchased a small loaf of bread and checked the price prior to paying, it had a price of $3.39 but this time i happen to be looking as she scanned the item and it wrang up as $5.39....i then told her...the price it is stating on register is not the price clearly stated on item..she adjusted price...since then i now pay carefull attention when my items are being rang up and there have been times that i was being over charged and i brought to attention of cashier and she adjusts item...last night the sargento cheese i purchased because it had a sign above..that said $2.99...when she sanned the item it came up as $6.19...i then told her it has a sign saying it is on sale for $2.99...she looks in circularand says...that the shredded....i then went back to where i sign sign...took it dwn n went back to cashier and advised her..no where on this sale sign does it say shredded...she then says the pic show shredded...i told her now your reaching..cause even the writing on the item inpic does not say shredded...she then takes sign goes to check(this is an assumption because she nvr tld me what she was doing...when she walks away another girl finishes ringing me up...total came to $39.46...she then comes back and says she can adjust price i cld speak with a mgr if i like....i said yes can you call a mgr over...mgr comes over less than a min later...we explain to him what the issue is...he looks at me and says whatever price rings up is the price cause it downloaded from a main frm a main-frame...i told him that is 100 pcnt in correct cause i come here 2-3 times a week for yrs and there have been times the price does not match for sale itmes and i advise cashier and she makes adjustment...he then say if it was above shredded cheese then then thats the price and walks away..i was then taking my cart an leaving n cashier reminds me that i had not yet paid for the itmes....and i told her thank u for reminding me....i told her have a good nite as i am walking away cashiers asks sir do you want your items?...i nvr even acknowleged her cause my actions dictated that i did not want the items...why wld i patronize and establishment that clearly does not respect me or my business..i went dwn the block to the target that recently opened and purchased same items that i left in cart at freshmtkt....these business hire mgrs to rep the business but lack business savy...we are talking about pennies in the grand scheme things and when he 1st walked over he shld clarified what was the difference we were discussing and chrged the...
Read moreThis place customer service overall has got to be the ultimate worst to ever deal with! I brought about $45 in groceries the Sunday (8/31) before the holiday Labor Day, I got home and opened my 4 packs of Perdue brand chicken and found it to be slimy, black & blue followed with a horrible spoiled smell…So I go to the establishment on Tuesday to make a manager aware of what happened & to discuss a store credit not even a refund (store credit for future) soon as I got there to the front register…the guy on register is totally annoyed with me the minute I asked to speak to a manager...he literally gave I don’t care energy & start making excuses as to the managers in a meeting and no one can step out to speak with me quickly….then also goes on to tell me “I’m telling you right now your not getting a refund without product.” In response I’m already pissed like that’s not even what I’m asking for. I’m like “You guys are selling spoiled product with dates that make it seem fresh. This is totally absurd that no one can speak on the matter with me.” So I waited around to speak to a manager finally got one & was told partially the same that I should’ve brought spoiled chicken back to the store on a Tuesday from a Sunday. It’s policy blah blah blah Be Very For Real! I’m showing him photos of the chicken with the date and time stamp including my receipt of purchase & I’m like sir if I knew you guys were open on the holiday I would’ve came here but it’s like all of that is irrelevant because he tells me he can’t go based off photos that mean any customer can come and say this…He only then becomes apologetic when I tell him I’m a frequent customer so I’m very shocked with the handling of the matter. He starts telling me about policy again! All of that went in one and ear and out the other because he clearly wasn’t getting my point that they sold spoiled rotten chicken with a incorrect date on it. This is a health matter! My holiday was screwed I was hosting a party & had to spend double the day of to replace the spoiled chicken & still they are ducking my calls to resolve the matter. At this point I don’t even want the store credit anymore…everyone there seem to give a screw you attitude & super shady as if customers are lying about what they are selling. Very tasteless! Never returning to this place. They need the health department to pay them...
Read moreThis is literally one of the worst grocery stores in all of NYC. It turns out there are actually a few locations of NYC Fresh around the city. I can't imagine any of them are great because it's glaringly obvious the management of this store have no idea what the word "Fresh" actually means. NOTHING in this store is "Fresh". Actually, the only thing "Fresh" in this store is the stench of what smells like a steaming pile of feces in the meat department. The produce is a rotting joke, the prepared food in the deli case comes with a sad layer of stagnant food film, and the horrible service leaves nothing to the imagination. Everything is disgustingly overpriced, and that isn't an exaggeration. We know living in NYC comes at a cost, but the GROSS markup on literally every product is offensive. In fact, it doesn't really matter because you never know how much anything is before you get to the register. 90% of the items in this store aren't even marked - what a novel strategy! It's really a CRAP shoot: a box of cereal could be $8.00 or $5.00. Oh, and forget about anything that is advertised as "on sale" actually ringing up correctly. You literally have to watch every item being rung up by the rude staff. If something rings up wrong you have to tell them the real price, and maybe with at least one eye roll they'll fix the price. The management either has a sick ulterior motive to prey on the store's "convenient" location by forcing people to pay WAY TOO MUCH for crap food, or they're entirely inept at what it means to build a long term and sustainable service to the community. Needless to say, this store won't last long. The convenience and guilty feeling of not supporting "local" just aren't worth paying $3.00 for an apple, getting RUDE service from management or at the register, being cheated by dishonest advertising, or literally walking out with the smell of feces in your face. They'll need to take a very QUICK hint and change their entire business and management model, or they'll be forced to go out of business once the real players - TARGET and TRADER JOE'S - make their mark only ONE VERY...
