This was overall not great. So I did the 60min seaweed mask facial. First off front desk asked me if I wanted to take off my shirt and put on one of those snap towels so my shirt wouldn't get wet. I declined and she remarked that that was good because it probably wouldn't fit me. Now I'm not a small woman but still, damn.
So I got on the table. The woman performing the facial came in and showed me the timer and got to work. She turned on a machine that blew really aggressive not great smelling steam into my face, washed my face (manually using one of those facial cleaning devices with the brushes). She used one of those vibrating scrapers on my face. Then she showed me a phone with a translation that said "your pimples hurt a little" which I correctly interpreted as her starting extractions and I told her that's fine. She did extractions, but she really aggressively tried to do an extraction on a skin tag and by the noises she made I'm not sure if it bled or just became irritated and I told her to skip that area. She then used a pore sucker in what felt like a random fashion. Then she held up a tin and made a questioning noise. I wasn't sure what this meant but I told her to go ahead. It ended up being the seaweed mask. She mixed it right next to my ear which was kind of disgusting, and then put the cold mask on my face, which was a welcome reprieve from the smelly steam. She messed with the mask for a good 5 minutes or so, and when she stopped messing with it it started dripping down my neck and in my ears.
This is where it gets a little weird. So while the mask is on she starts to do a massage. It says it comes with a neck and arm massage so I was expecting some of this. The massage was not good it was more like she was pinching bits of skin as she went down my arm. But the weird part was when she hopped on the table and started rubbing my legs and inner thighs, as well as my stomach. She also aggressively rubbed my sternum, and it's been almost a week and I still have a bruise. She did this weird pinchy thing on my inner armpit area that still hurts a bit as well. Then after the leg massage she stuck a Q-Tip in my ear with no warning. Thank God I stayed still or I feel like I might have gotten hurt. She then took out her phone and proceeded to put it into selfie mode, I think to show me it was a green seaweed mask? I said ok and she took it off and cleaned up. She then put presumably some moisturizer and sunscreen on my face, and proceeded to gently slap my face all over when she finished.
Overall my face looks ok, nothing bad happened. It was just not relaxing and included extra weird and unexpected things. She was also standing right there while I gave the tip at the end watching what I was writing. I tipped, but yeah I would...
Read moreSince Olya Spa opened, the staff has been nothing short of wonderful. The manager, Ena, is there almost every day, and she’s truly amazing—kind, understanding, and always accommodating. Ari, Ethan, Wendy, and Lucy all have magical hands. I never feel the need to request a specific person because every single one of them is equally talented.
I’ve had many Swedish massages, head spa scalp treatments, facials, and foot reflexology here, and each service has been consistently excellent. If you get the chance to stop in, I highly recommend it—your experience will be fabulous. Kudos to the entire team, and I can’t wait...
