Raksha Spa and barber shop — Local services in New York

PLEASE, please DO NOT go to this place for your eyebrows. The Indian lady who runs this place is rude and obnoxious. I would never have gone there if my usual eyebrow threading place (salon right at Willoughby and Jay street) or the one further down on Willoughby was open. Due to the holiday (July 4th) only this place was open and I REGRET I went there. She was very rough and harsh and bruised me while doing my eyebrows. I had red specs and above my right eyebrow, some of my skin was bruised - making it red and inflamed. I get my eyebrows done very often and have used this place a long time ago in the past. I understand that the skin can get irritated and inflamed, but this was bad. From other reviews, I learn that her name is "Rajshahi". While threading my eyebrows, she asked me what happened to my skin and I had no clue what she was talking about. After she finished threading, I saw what she was referring to and told her it wasn't like this when I got there. I couldn't believe her audacity - she refused it happened while she threaded my eyebrows! She made me show my eyebrows - or rather brought attention to it by asking the other African American women in the store to touch and see if this was something that could have just happened. I was totally enraged. I paid her what she asked for and then before leaving some people were walking in and I said aloud "please don't get your eyebrows done here!" Of course, they turned around and I sincerely hope you readers do the same. I believe I'm a reasonable person and such things happen with eyebrows, but I couldn't get over the fact that she didn't admit to it and didn't apologize. Absolutely no customer care. I've seen her treat her staff before in a very degrading manner and that's the reason why I stopped going there. I will never go back...

Usually this is my and my families go to spot. My cousin had warned me not to go any longer because the OWNER Raki who threads our brows did a terrible job and also blamed her (my cousin) for her eyebrows coming out messed up... Today I went in and mind you the last time I had my brows done was 3 almost 4 months ago and they were done by her! So today I sat down in the chair and she started going to work I stood as still as I could while she viciously tore away at my eyebrow hairs... she stops and asks me if I had gone to someone else halfway through my threading I said no. she said are you sure I said I'm 100% sure don't you see how thick my uni brow is.... then she continues to say you move to much i get messed up. And also that I lost my eyebrow shape because they haven't been done in so long. Now lets stop right there I've gone months without doing my brows because they dont grow fast. NEVER IN my 19 years of getting my eyebrows done has any one ever told me that. The problem is she made a huge error And refused to acknowledge that she messed up. And I stood as still as I could with my eye burning and tears rolling down my face from pain.... definitely will NEVER take my business here again. My eyebrows are everything and the fact that I waited for so long to do them just to have them completely ruined is ridiculous!!! I also have this same review on Yelp...

The Indian lady, I was told her name is rukki is very rude and disrespectful towards her customers and neighbors. I couldn't believe that upto 10 resident tenants complain about her,and if I wouldn't have witness her abusive and rude, crazy behavior I probably would have not believed it Myself. And most of the male and few females she rents too and work there are criminal low life's. I work for the board of education for 32 year so far. I came for a spa treatment and it wasn't pleasent. I witnessed her taking the tips away from the good workers, cursing at them and spitting at them. I was in disbelief to notice how sick and totally unprofessional this woman is, she needs help cause she is crazy. Some times when I walk pass her establishment some of her workers outside smoking drugs. I was bothered by that most cause I happen to be with my 11 year old daughter and she cough and choked from that horrible smell, then I had to explain that to my daughter, It was dreadful and very embarrassing.
