I am floored by experience with this place. I used this service about 5 times. of those 5 times, 3 times I called or texted for an appointment and when I arrived the receptionist had not written down my appointment and was hostile to me when I walked in. While I was flabbergasted by this attitude, they did an good job and the tailor Irene was accommodating and did a good job. In two subsequent visits Irene was out and I worked another another tailor who was hostile about everything I was trying to get tailored. It was bizarre to be treated this way but I figured maybe she was having a bad day. I came in again 4 days ago with two more items but this same tailor was so hostile - and my appointment hadn’t been written down - that I decided to not even bother with the second item. When I asked the receptionist if we could fix the communication issue over appointments she responded in a rude manner “you were 15 minutes late”. I responded “wow you all are really hostile here so let’s just finish up these items and I’ll find another place”. TOday, 4 days later, I received a text from Irene informing me that although they’d had my clothes for 7 and 4 days respectively, they had not done any work on them and that she would “mail me my clothes by US Mail”. So they had my clothes for over a week, they aren’t competent enough to write down appointments, treat their customers with hostility and then don’t even do the work they were engaged to do. They won’t be in...
Read moreThe 3.5 star average they have on Yelp is more accurate. The positive ratings here seem fake. They are exceptionally rude. Because there are few tailors nearby, they seem to get away with awful customer service.
They are very expensive. They charge different prices for the same tailoring depending on who sees you. They often over-promise and under-deliver. For example, they often take much longer to complete alterations than they tell you. So if your receipt says pickup will be ready Friday, expect that it may not be ready until the following week. I had an alteration that was weeks late. They may tell you your alterations are ready, then when you arrive to pick them up, only half of them are ready. However they do not tell you that until you arrive. They may tell you they are closed for renovations, when in fact they are taking customers who have higher priced alterations. They only accept cash and checks. No credit cards. They are VERY RUDE and treat their customers poorly. Check each time you pick up your alterations to make sure they actually did the work. Ask them to write the price for the alterations on the receipt before you leave your clothes there. Otherwise they might quote you a much higher price after the alterations are made. I would absolutely not recommend this place given their consistently rude service, exorbitant prices, late completion, inconsistent prices and...
Read moreThese ladies are amazing. Not only do they repair and restore vintage gowns, they can also take a size 12-14 down to size 2. Although often times you may have to wait a bit for your items to be ready, you can also be ready to be fully satisfied with their flawless work. However, this morning when I realized that the hem of my couture gown, which I'm planning to wear to a wedding the day after tomorrow, has torn, they told me to bring it right over and that they would repair by next day 3pm and steam the gown as well. They are detail oriented and their work is flawless. This is not your chinese dry clear fixing your hem or lining and they're not a store front, so find the building and go up the second flight, make an appointment or wait a few minutes if someone is ahead of you. Once you see their work you'll never use another tailoring service again. My mother comes from upstate NY to use them. Once she lost 30 lbs and had them re-do a ton of her things, including vintage...
